Isn't that putting a little too much strain on him at a time when he should be taking it easy, just resting and recovering? It reminds me a bit of how Team China never gave Yao a real off-season to recover, which didn’t do much for his longevity

All i gotta say is this. The french national teams whether it'd be basketball or Football are some of the most **** **** i've ever read about or heard. I wouldn't be surprised if they came out and said it's because he doesn't bleed for the french flag or that he isn't french thats why he isn't playing.

French sports association have a history of doing stuff like that.

The way they treated Zidane after all the glory he brought them is despicable. Wemby should focus on his health.

“The other day I saw one of his games. He was running with the ball at a hundred per cent full speed, I don’t know how many touches he took, maybe five or six, but the ball was glued to his foot. It’s practically impossible.”

The French Team has no say in anything at the end of the day.

The Spurs are cutting the checks. They will have to clear him to play. It's really a non story

Yep, the way they excluded Heurtel despite having no point guards at all was also puzzling to me. Anyway, this is actually a great opportunity for the other young players to step into important roles and gain useful experience. With both Lessort and Wemby out, it opens up a lot of minutes, touches and shots for everyone.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

I think this is serious and fortunately with today's medicine, he should be carefully monitored. However, this is a risk that can't be ignored for anyone with a similar disease.
Canned in Denver.

The French National Team needs to STFU.
BAF Clippers: Great Team. No Future.
PG: SGA | Coleworld
SG: Big Ragu | Podz
SF: Kuminga | Thybulle
PF: KAT | K. Williams
C: BroLo | D. Sharpe

Deep Bench - Merrill | Craig | Reath | Saric | Lowry

You guys are a bunch of idiots.

Here is what Fauthoux said :
"We spoke with Victor before his operation, he is motivated to be part of the team. We will see as his physical development progresses, we will make the decision when the time is right, until then, we will be in the dark. But he feels good, everything is going well (in his rehabilitation)"

Nothing bad here. Victor wants to play, staff want him to play. If he can't, everybody is fine with it.

With all the achilles in three major stars in as many months, I would like to bump this thread to give you a perspective on the potential seriousness of Wemby's medical condition. I don't have any inside information, but my impression as an nba fan is his medical condition may have long term chronic repercussions.

He likely has an uncommon type of thoracic outlet syndromes, called Paget-Schroetter syndrome. from https://www.kens5.com/article/sports/nba/spurs/report-spurs-victor-wembanyama-undergoes-surgery-thrombosis-issue-nba-san-antonio/273-864eb685-19a4-4df1-96f4-5d703eb799e7 ... there are some technically errors of some of the medical terminology, but referring to this quote
"Wemby has been on blood thinners since being sidelined and surgery is not uncommon to correct thrombosis and the structural issue that is causing it."
In the minimum he is on blood thinners for many months and depending on severity of his clots, longer. Now the structural issue is usually the first rib, which is the culprit in athletes. The doctor in that video is wrong when he talks about the clavicle; that is not what is removed, but it is the first rib or an accessory rib. Basically, repetitive movements caused scars to form around the scalene muscles and the associated subclavian vein. While this has not been reported, he likely underwent in march, removal of his right first rib and to remove scars around his veins and possibly even around his brachial plexus. Now, I have not seen it reported that way, and I think it's just the team's publicist doing damage control. Given what I know from reading online, I think there is high likelihood his first rib was removed.

We have examples of athletes with this medical problem.
In the MLB
Stephen Strasburg, he had surgery in 2021 and was not the same again
Chris Archer had neurogenic TOS and had surgery in 2020 and sounded like he was not the same since

Remember Markell Fultz...yeah THAT guy. He had neurogenic TOS
Brandon Ingram had surgery for venous TOS in March 2019... an example of someone doing well after surgery.

I do not think the NBA will allow Wemby to play while on blood thinner, because bball is a contact sport and he will bleed after an injury. Will need to wait to hear what he does near pre season.
