I've find myself less and less interested in drafts in all sports these days. I used to LOVE studying all the prospects.

I'm not sure if it's just getting older and not finding dudes young enough to be my kids relatable or because I've seen so many draft busts I can't talk myself into the dream of 'we just drafted out next superstar'. Now pretty much every pick I'm just like "who knows, maybe they will or suck'

He's a body I guess.

The vibe I get is Ja isn't coming back and they're just exploring deals up until the draft.

To be fair, I don't expect him to say "We definitely need to add a pass rusher (or DT) in the first couple of rounds."

One, maybe opposing GMs hear this and don't try to trade in front of us if say James Pearce falls right into your lap. Two, if you miss out on the guys you are targeting, why take the 7th best edge rusher over the 2nd best cornerback?

I agree. All of the talk about Philly hitting on two corners last year, which they definitely did. Those corners are better because the front seven got pressure. So many of those INTs came because the QB didn't have any time.

You can have the two best corners in the NFL but if the QB is standing back there all day it doesn't matter. Gary is overpaid, Clark is about to be 30, and LVN should've never been drafted. Upgrade the Dline/pass rush early unless there is a corner that is just too good to pass up.

I'm fairly surprised by this because I believe Rasheed Walker was really good last season and is still really young. From an asset management standpoint the worst thing the Packers can do is bench Rasheed Walker. If he's not apart of your long term plan they should trade him now

I mean competition brings out the best in men. Let Morgan compete for the LT position, if he wins it great....and if not you can place him at RG for this year and let him earn LT position next year. Also there will be injuries unfortunately so it's always good to have depth.

If Walker loses a LT battle to Morgan that will likely kill his trade value and then he likely walks next year as a Free agent where we probably only get a R5 or R6 comp pick back for him. I just think taking a proven 25 year old LT and letting him leave for basically nothing would be really poor asset management.

My other thought is Walker at LT > Rhyan at RG. So if I'm looking to give Morgan a shot to start it makes more sense for him to compete with Rhyan imo

I agree and think that is what will happen eventually. But if Morgan somehow comes into camp ready to dominate they have to consider him at LT. At that point they could trade Walker for a 2026 pick but I doubt it comes to that. I think it's best to start the season with Morgan at RG assuming he can earn that spot because I am not a fan so far and if he continues to grow we use him to replace either Tom or Walker after they walk in free agency.

Really need Morgan to be a solid starter. LVN appears to be a bust and we can't have another first round bust.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

It's almost as if neither of those guys should have been drafted where they were

I think they want to avoid paying Walker if they can, just because of his knee injury/history. Maybe he’s in the clear since this was years ago but also seems like it might be a bit of a ticking time bomb: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/41106443/rasheed-walker-path-replacing-packers-lt-david-bakhtiari

Not paying him frees up more money to spend elsewhere if Morgan can actually win that job and hold it down on his rookie contract.

I think NFL fans overrate the success rate of 1st round picks. According to the 33rd team, from 2010-2017, only 31% of 1st round picks signed a 2nd contract with the team that drafted them. That means roughly 70% of players taken in the 1st round weren't valued well enough by the team to extend a 2nd contract

So we expect the same guy who OVERPAID (his top 12 pick) Gary, re-signed Clark to a big 3rd contract last season just before Kenny hit the wall, and used the 13th overall pick on LVN who SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN DRAFTED to (A) concede he has failed at adding requisite talent along the defensive front and/or (B) state that he will be brining in another top draft pick to fix the situation?

That ain't goot and it never will be.

Regarding Walker: any data on how many times he was penalized, either for holding or false starts? I have no data to back up my guess, but it seems like he has had more penalties than the other linemen. To be fair, maybe that goes with being an LT. Also, I know he's got a tough act to follow, so there's that too.

I think one of the ideas of replacing Walker with Morgan at tackle is to be a better run blocking group. Walker would seem to be the weakest run blocking starter. His 54.1 run grade and 108th of 141 tackles per pff is not very good. I could be totally wrong thou. Rhyan’s run blocking grade wasn’t much better really or Jenkins even.
