Most of the players took the side of Iisalo, some remained silent, which caused some friction in the locker room. The FO stepped in, and whistled the thing off. It is pretty sure Iisalo will be a NBA head-coach next season, and Grizzlies FO was afraid he would not consider Grizzlies if they wouldn't take his side.

All this is hearsay, and might be bull-poo, but to me it sounds plausible.

If what you say is true (I’m no MEM expert) then I’m not exactly sure how Jenkins is in the wrong. Consider Lisalo’s system: low pnr and low screening. Who is the player on MEM best suited to optimize this style? Ja. He’s been out the last 6 games. They are .500 without Ja this year so maybe the system does need some tweaking when it doesn’t have Ja. I don’t think a brief 2-4 skid without your best player warrants a firing this late in the season.

If you’re right about the players siding with Lisalo I can see why MEM might look to replace Jenkins.

I don't think the problem is with the system, it's with the rotations. Jenkins has some weird rotations and almost always plays 10-12 players a night.

Only thing Ja is forcing out is a fire arm in some random social media post.

In the case of Lue I have a feeling that players really really like him especially the star players because I have yet to hear any of them say anything bad about them. I also think that Ballmer is deathly afraid of the Clippers becoming irrelevant again hence the reason why they also have continued to hitch their wagon to Leonard as well. With Lue coaching, Ballmer can say that at least he has a coach who has won a Final and been to multiple ones(albeit while coaching Lebron) and at this point Lue is one of the few "name" recognizable coaches in the league.

The only thing that's saved Nurse is Embiid being hurt. If he were hurt and not available as much as when Doc was the coach, Doc may still be coaching the 76ers. It seems like Nurse won't be judged until he gets one healthy playoff run with PG/Embiid but who knows if that's even realistic anymore. He also could get bailed out if the Sixers somehow get the #1 pick this year cause you would assume that the Sixers then try to move on from Embiid and possibly George too.

This would have been a 10 if the Luka trade didn't move the overton window so far.

Wow, I had to look at the date real fast to see if it was April 1st.

Jenkins has been fabulous for several years IMO. With all the injuries and the little want-a-be idiot gangster's gun problems.

Not sure what he was expected to do better. If my team didn't already have a good coaching situation, I'd be happy to have him.

He won't be without a job very long, unless something really bad happened behind the scenes.

taylor jenkins seems like a decent coach but that whole "don't play anyone 30 minutes per game" schtick the grizz were doing this year has never worked. players (especially star players) don't like it and when you lose games the first thing anyone's going to look at is 'how come bane didn't play more' or whatever. pop was able to get away doing this a couple seasons, but the last guy besides him to try it on a decent team was hubie brown also on the grizzlies back in the day and he was also canned. it's just not done for a reason.

They will probably say he's 270 pounds, drinks too much beer and smokes hookah all day long on the road, so they prioritize to replace him with a 75yo defensive-minded coach.

huh

They are in a serious playoff race now. wtf

maybe something happened in the locker room. Only way an important leading someone gets fired immediately when I work at offices, is when that person does something real bad like harrassment or something. If it was performance-related, they wait till the project or quarter is over.

Yup, the #1 team in the East has been doing this very thing, all season, I'd say it works in a marathon not sprint season.

If this was the issue, Knicks and Grizz should have worked out a trade.

One of the best Assistant Coaches in the league tbh. Wouldn't be surprised if they play well under him and he's designated their new HC next season.
