Some of the stuff Grizzlies fans are saying about Jenkins and the expectations they had for that roster are wild. I mean, it's almost like a vocal segment of every fanbase eventually sours on their head coach and views them as incompetent buffoons no matter how good they are. But what can we possibly learn from this?

If posters don't have a standard of what makes a good coach, we'll always be flailing along.

To repeat, you cannot judge a coach by anything else but what he does with the talent he has. A bad coach can and will win with good talent and a good coach will lose with bad talent.

A good comparison is what Bud is doing with Phoenix compared to what Frank Vogel did last year with the same talent.

These lists of good coaches show that the pundits have no clue on how to rate coaches. I could win with Boston's roster.

One guy who is rarely mentioned as a very good coach is Blly Donovan. I don't care what his record is. He gets the most out of the talent he's given.

Having said all this and using the criteria I mentioned, I think Taylor Jenkins is a good coach.

It’s fun to fantasize about Jenkins but I’d venture to guess there is a .01% chance of the Bucks moving on from Doc.

So the bucks lacked talent the last two years and AG must have been a good coach cuz Doc's record with almost the same roster is like .500? To me both coaches suck and this current bucks team is a massive underachiever as they have zero plan, guidance or idea wtf to do on the court.

I didn't say anything about the Bucks talent in my post, but I will if you want.

The Bucks, with the demise of KM, don't have championship talent on their roster. They did with KM. Doesn't mean they were guaranteed to win, but even an average coach had a chance to win.

My opinion, stated many times on here, is that there is a mushy middle of average coaches in the NBA. Doc is one of them. There are a couple of horrendous coaches and several really good coaches.

The ones I like are:

Spoelstra
OKC coach- liked him before they had the best record
Donovan
Thibs
Quin Snyder

I also like Kerr, Vogel, Jenkins and Atkinson (again, I liked him before this season).

Not sure the entire list above are elite, but certainly better than Doc.

Memphis fans aren't shedding any tears over Jenkins' dismissal.

That's because they've never had Doc.

The guy who traded 2- 1sts for Marcus Smart and then another 1st to get rid of Marcus Smart was allowed to make the decision on Jenkins.

Remember when they scapegoated Dillon Brooks? This is the same thing.

Jenkins is pretty whiny and I always got bad vibes from him but firing him now is a bit of a shock.

8-11 since the break, they were 36-18 , now they're 44-29.
6-5 with Ja, losses are to Cavs(2), Thunder, Knicks and Pacers
2-6 without Ja

This is crazy to fire a guy at this point in the season, nuts.
I'd love to have him.
And as much as I dislike Doc as a coach I'd actually want him in the front office. I think he'd do well, not as the lead guy though.

I partly agree with Big O here. Do think the coach is critically important. But part of equation is having a coach who can work with their GM to get talent that fits the coach. This is where I believe my friend Bud did some of his best work. Lopez, Pat, George Hill, Bobby and Jrue were all home run moves on a relative basis.

Feel like all of Horst’s moves since firing Bud have generally sucked. That could be Horst sucks or Doc is exerting influence, in a bad way.

TL:DR: we don’t heal until we get Doc out of the organization and get a good GM

I haven't felt this demoralized about the team since the Kohl era. 1st rd exit, blow it up. Fire everyone, I doubt Giannis will want to stick around but if he does great..

Even without the Dame injury, its inexcusable that we can only manage a +2.0 point differential.

Giannis gives the same line almost every night. Its an insane advantage.

And yet....we have this garbage

I dont know what the answer is
