What if he put his foot down on some foolery with their star guard that we don't know about yet?

Only thing I could think of is Taylor wanting Ja traded this off-season or put his foot down on Ja and his pops. This don't make any since to me but neither did firing a coach who went 30-13.

Huge shocker to me. I thought Jenkins was one of the better coaches in the league especially for his ability to maximize talent down the bench

Cavs just went on a 4 game losing streak and didn't feel the need to fire Kenny Atkinson with 2 weeks until the playoffs lol

The timing of the Jenkins firing makes zero sense.

But they did fire Bickerstaff after the team made the 2nd round and lost to the Celtics without 2 of their 4 most important players. Now obviously as we see it may have appeared to be a Mark Jackson/GSW situation where the team was maxed out with Bickerstaff as coach but it still was kind of stunning because he didn't have a healthy squad in the series they were eliminated.

Its looking through a pinhole though. jb failed in the 2023 playoffs and the 2022 play-in too. Being taken to 7 by the inferior Magic that he tanked and hand picked to play in the 2024 1st round was not a good look.

jb was not fired because he failed to beat the eventual champion Celtics in the 2nd round, he was fired for everything before that. Guy had been the head coach since the 2019-20 season.

He sucks as a post season head coach and I'm sure we're all about to see that on full display next month.

JJJ hits a 3 (24pts) to go up by 2 against OKC with 7:41 left in the game .... 99-97
JJJ had scored the last 7pts for the Grizz 7-1 run for the Grizz
At 6:16 He's subbed out for Aldama (99-104) OKC has a 7-0 run really fast.
This is where former DPOY and last 7 points made is subbed out ... HERE ...
At 4:37 JJJ is brought back in (99-112) Grizz have scored zero points while he's on the bench.
Next possession JJJ hits a 3 but there's less than 4 minutes left, shiteshow, lost momentum ensues \Game over

Everyone who has been following Iisalo longer knew he would be an NBA HC sooner or later. I'm assuming the Grizz have seen how genius of a coach he is and just couldn't wait any longer.

For those who are not familiar with Iisalo, he basically turned all the teams he coached in Europe around and made them winners.

Yeah, what he did in Bonn was magic. One of the best coaching talents out there. This guy could be a game changer.

Grizzlies fan here aswell and the rotation philosophy of Jenkins is the exact opposite of thibs in new York.

Playing all his players less then 30 minutes a game no matter the situation was driving us fans crazy for years now and the players aswell.

Sure you get great story's of development like Scotty pippen JR however it makes no since for him to share the minutes with JA 50/50.

In my opinion Jenking is one of the best development coaches in the NBA but his x/o s and game plans are in the botton of the league.

I'm not a Grizz fan and I even get frustrated with his rotations/minutes management. When you add in the fact the entire scheme was implemented by their new Interim coach, and Jenkins' contract probably up for renegotiation soon... it may be less shocking than initially thought.

Did you know the Grizz FO fired and brought in an entire new coaching staff last off season with the only exception being Jenkins?
It was up to Jenkins to implement these new coaching ideas this year but, lately the entire game plan has been a dumpster fire, players fighting on the bench, and rumors of coaches arguing and butting heads in practice.
There's really nothing more to it than that or so it seems...

If their plan was to elevate Iisalo and they were certain of it then this was the right time. Lotto teams start interviewing head coaches as soon as April. Grizz were unlikely to make the 2nd round anyways.
