The top 6 threads on the NBA reddit were all Bulls. Between the 9 points in 12 seconds, the half-court game winning pose in front of Lebron, the Lakers guy, and the world being introduced to Stacey King it's become a media sensation.

I think the social media most talked about thing was Stacey.

No! We are a 9-seed.

He can get credit if they make the 2nd round and become a top-4 seed next year.

But like I said - he needed a bunch of lifelines to make up for a bunch of things, and right now, he got them!

1. Giddey looking like OKC-Harden redux. Good and bad; the good is this is some of the best single-player basketball we've had in a long-time. Better IMO than peak Demar, since peak Demar and Zach were iso/make-my-crazy-shot specialists (rather than do-it-all Josh). I mean, geez, this might be the best individual month of Chicago basketball since Jimmy Butler's best month as a Bull. The guy is averaging a high triple-double while also making clutch shots. So I'm genuinely seeing a case for Brooklyn (and their Aussie GM) considering a "who cares, what do we have to lose while we rebuild" max offer that we'll either have to match or pass or S&T. I've liked Josh's game since he came here; my main pessimism regarding his ankle-health and 3P shot. The real question is how (unreasonable) is it to expect him to shoot 50% 3Ps for an entire season?

2. Got the Demar FRP back & dumped Zach for expirings (and productive young-prime role-players, at that)... 3-in-1 blessing , as we were genuinely at risk of being stuck with Zach's 50M in 2027... while also giving SAS the 11-12th pick... while missing the playoffs... :uhoh: Thank you Ranadive; sorry Sacramento.

3. Matas dropping to #11 and looking like one of the better prospects in the whole draft.

4. Coby returning to MIP form (2.0) - this is good and bad, regarding contract extension. Obviously a (deserving) All-NBA/max Coby is the most desirable scenario. I'm glad we have a whole other season to evaluate him. Good problem to have. Coby's stretches are so night and day, but he does look the best ever RN. It looks like his strength and conditioning has (almost) peaked. Defenders are getting knocked down when they challenge his air-space. But again, 1 month of dominance is fool's gold. He must play at this level for a full season.

5. Honorable mention: Lonzo returned and signed a cap-friendly deal.

After years of everything going wrong, a bunch of things finally went right. However, I still need to see what happens next. You overpay Giddey (and Tre), draft the wrong guy, the team doesn't have the same honeymoon mojo in November, and we're right back to slumpin'. Right now, I'm feeling little more optimistic that even Pat might turn it around and become half-decent after another off-season.

They are 9-2 in their last 11 with wins against the Lakers (twice), Denver and a near loss to an outstanding Rockets team, with Giddey and White playing at all-NBA levels.

Plus Matas. With a completely different style of play. It sure seems to be the beginning of what we will be going forward and it’s kinda fun.

Very special moment in Chicago sports history.

Obviously true. It’s not even a big enough statement. It’s one of the wildest endings in NBA history and splashed all over the national news as the lead story. This will be remembered as a historic Bulls comeback win.

I was almost happy for the tank W but for some odd reason I never stopped believing in the guys.

I guess this is ambiguous depending on subjective definitions of what “the future” means. But I don’t think there’s any doubt left that they are our future starting backcourt and 2 of the 3 young players the Bulls will make the main priority among those on the roster.

So, again, accurate. Not corny. Unless you think he meant like future of the league or something.

It’s always been okay to give him credit for the things he’s done right. It’s just that the list is short and the list of mistakes is extremely long.

He sucks until he proves a whole lot more. And even then that will simply mean that he stopped sucking.

We're playing well right now and we have some nice young players, but we're still a play-in team that will likely be bounced in the first round and we're unlikely to get a difference maker in the draft. It's a fun time right now, but we're still a long way away from contending or even being relevant.

We're just overreacting to a historic single game and a good stretch of play. His comment made it seem like this is the turning point in Bulls history. It was that first sentence. Everything else is fine and true.

Why does Giddey need to shoot 50 percent from 3 to be great? No one in the NBA does that. If he shoots 37 percent on 5 or 6 attempts per game going forward that would be more than sufficient.

Let’s see how things look a year from now. Also saying we won’t get a difference maker from the draft is premature. I think we just got one in Buzelis at #11 last Summer.

He doesn't remotely need to hit that.

Luka @23: 34%
Haliburton @23: 36%
Brunson @23: 35%
Kyrie @23: 32% (outlier year)
SGA @23: 30%
Donovan Mitchell @23: 36%

Discounting the bad years, average for contending PGs at 23 is 34%-36%. Giddey was 34% last season and 38% this season. He's well within the range, and he doesn't hit 23 til next season starts.

Though... I do wonder how much we would bitch and complain about his lack of defensive effort if he were on this team...

Also all the talk about "we are still just a play in team", I do wonder if we started the season like this with this team would we all have a different demeanour.
