https://www.si.com/nba/hornets/news/lamelo-ball-latest-injury-update-could-spell-trouble-for-hornets
the injury report that was released on Thursday night, which revealed that LaMelo Ball is OUT for Friday night's contest versus the Toronto Raptors.
The notable factor in the report was that his injury wasn't listed as "ankle soreness" or "ankle management." It was listed as "right ankle impingement", which is something that is obviously a lot more serious.
The injury could keep Ball out for a month of play, which would ultimately end his season, but since the Hornets season has been over for some time, the Hornets could just be playing the safe route and resting him for the remainder of the season.
If Ball were to miss the rest of the season, it would mean that he fell three games short of the 50-game mark. Ball hasn't appeared in 50 or more games since the 2021-22 season, which was his second season in the NBA and also when the Hornets last had a winning record.

Well it’s time to have Melo take care of these physical issues and not play further this season. In fact, ANY injury or problem to ny player that can do harm or potential harm must be addressed with treatment and rest. No more risks to our players Coach!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

47 games in todays NBA is actually pretty respectable. That is just where the league is right now.
Out of the top 25 scorers in the League, maybe 8 of them will break 70 games played this year.

If you were a tanking team, playing 5 other tanking teams over the course of the last 8 games of the season (with the final two against the likely resting Celtics) how would you be able to sit your best player and not get "Flagged" for sitting healthy players? You take minor issue that probably has some truth to it like pain/soreness occasionally and attach a term that makes it sound worse. Impingement is basically soreness unless there's bone spurs.

He’s undergoing two minor procedures for ankle and wrist concerns. His season is officially over.

Good decision to get it done early as possible. I think he still has hardware in that right ankle too doesn't he?

Man I'm done. I thought this dude was going to finish out the season healthy for a change. Turns out he has to have multiple surgeries lol
Please bless us with Flagg. That's all I have to say at this moment.

I'm approaching out on Melo as a building block for this team. Getting to the off-season healthy was a litmus test and it failed.

No it's not. There is a big difference between 65 games and 47. Melo can hardly play half the season at this point.

Remember when I told you my only issue with LaMelo was his ability to stay healthy?
This is why I wanted to move on. It gets old going through this every year. He's talented, but man the kid just can't stay healthy.

As long as the surgeries are indeed minor I’m not concerned.

ANY continued procedures to previous injuries is a concern.

True. Maybe they’re just cleaning something up. Hell I don’t know.
