A bigger Jimmy Butler with a jump shot. And, one hopes, better off-court behavior. That's the closest comp I can offer. If you're having trouble seeing the similarities, here they are -
1) They're point forwards, not simply scoring and/or rebounding forwards.
2) They don't make long outlet passes, they bring the ball up the court.
3) They control the pace of the game when in the half court.
4) They tend to take fewer shots early in the game, to get their teammates going, and demand the ball late.
5) They are often accused of being too unselfish -- their coaches want them to shoot more.
6) They are strong, physical players who draw a lot of fouls.
7) They are elite on-ball defenders, due to their strength and excellent agility for their size.
8) They are elite off-ball defenders, due to their focus and high BBIQ.
Tatum might also be a decent comp. Not during his first few years in the league, when he was a solo act. But his playmaking has dramatically improved, so that he now is pretty good at leading an offense.
I've said for a while, it's KG. Dude is gonna be a stud. I remember thinking that Matas was gonna suck when I watch his one-on-one exhibition video with Flagg, but it was just that Flagg was other-worldly so anyone would pale in comparison.
