Post#1 » by The Sheik » Fri Dec 14, 2007 11:30 pm

as reported by sportscenter...

Valverde for Chad Qualls, Chris Burke and someone else.

Dan Haren for 6 players.

I will get the details as soon as I find them.

Why are the Astros trading for a closer. They don;t have any starters to get them to Valverde.

Jose Valverde for Chad Qualls, Chris Burke and Juan Gutierrez.

Dan Haren and Connor Robertson for Chris Carter, Carlos Gonzalez, Aaron Cunningham, Dana Eveland, Brett Anderson and Greg Smith.

Or middle relief now that they traded away Qualls to get Valverde.

Rejoice, NL Central fans, for I've never seen a team make two big trades and get big name guys yet take such gigantic steps backwards

I don't understand what the Astros are doing this offseason.
They are trying to pull a Danny Ainge and pull in a bunch of big name players in one offseason but they aren't filling their needs.
Valverde is going to be awful in limited action in Houston.

I'm not too sure why Houston would trade for Valverde. I understand that he is good and had a very good year last year, but the disparity between Valve and Qualls is very small. If they kept Qualls and got Valverde that would be an entirely different story. I'm fine with it. Less players to use in trades during the season and for the rest of the off-season.

And it looks like Valverde has the "Doug Jones" epidemic. Good every other year.
