Kristaps Porzingis for Jerami Grant
Summer 2025. Straight swap.
Celtics trade Porzingis' expiring contract for Grant who's under contract for the next three seasons. Celtics get to keep the championship window for a longer period of time. Grant back in Denver has proven himself to be a very solid role player for a very good team.
Blazers essentially do a (long-term) salary dump.

Jerami Grant is a terrible contract, Celtics are about to become the most expensive team ever, he plays the position with the least need on Celtics.
It's a terrible fit, on both the basketball and the financial side.

Re: Kristaps Porzingis for Jerami Grant
Celtics would be insane to do this, but PDX would salivate.
Even not taking the horrendously long and 8M per season overpaid contract - Grant fills literally no need for BOS.
Also, if BOS tries to move off a starter I think its Jrue.

How is this even a question?
Better player on a better contract.

What incentive is Portland providing to bridge the value gap?

If Boston is willing to continue spending like drunken sailors they would just look to extend KP over trading him for Grant.

Re: Kristaps Porzingis for Jerami Grant
Your assumption and rationale is way off. How does this keep the window open longer? KP is younger and believe it or not plays in a similar number of games to Grant. KP makes less money per year.
No ways the Cs even consider this even if Portland attaches picks. It just doesn’t meet current needs or goals.

Somewhere trying not to offend Texas Chuck.

Re: Kristaps Porzingis for Jerami Grant
Celtics biggest reason for trading Porzingis would be to shed payroll. So bringing back a player who has 3 years left at $33 million per year makes zero sense. Celtics would just keep Porzingis at that cost because he is a better fit.
Porzingis for Grant has a less than 0% chance of happening

Re: Kristaps Porzingis for Jerami Grant
Porzingis for Grant plus Camara, 2025 PDX 1st if they move up into top 4 but not Cooper. Boston still probably says no.
Boston would have to then move Jrue and/or White into capspace to get their books under 2nd apron.

The original proposal was laughable. I made revisions that reduced greatly the original degree of laughability, while still maintaining an address inside the state of laughability.

The Celtics can’t take on more salary per year so Grant/ KP just can’t legally happen.
If it could though, what assets would Portland be willing to attach. They get a younger player of equally durability and a cheaper contract.
