PG: No miracle finish
Welp we didn't have it tonight. Matas was carrying us for most of the game but the guys didn't have it. Giddey and Huerter were terrible, and Pat was whatever in the English language that is worse than terrible.
On to the next one.

Re: PG: No miracle finish
Did Giddey get banged up or just limited minutes due to not playing great?
I thought Dalen looked solid. I really think he has an outside chance to push Ball, Ayo and Huerter for that starting spot next year. Matas was great. Coby was his usual.

Re: PG: No miracle finish
At this point Pat has actually gotten worse than 2nd year Tony Snell, who managed to go 14 games without scoring a point.
That guy was at least able to completely stay out of the way while playing passable, non-boxscore emitting team defense as he ran up and down the court. This version of Pat seems to be actively making things worse because his inferior processing has become an active point of emphasis for opposing defenses.
Teams have caught on that you can both easily goad Pat into making bonehead plays as well as forcing him into them if you really want to. On one of his turnovers he made a very pedestrian drive into the lane and every surrounding defender collapsed on him like flies on feces because they knew Pat dribbling into the lane with a head of steam is free cheese for your fast break offense.

He was actually far worse offensively today than he was defensively. He was certainly off today.

Was wondering the same thing.
If I had to guess, I would say it's a bit of both.
I think he's battling some injuries and it seemed like there was a deliberate effort to reduce his minutes. He only played ~15 at the half, which is less than usual.
But late in the game he was taken out due to being targeted on defense. He was put back in at the end of the game so I don't think his minutes were being limited just due to injury management at that point.

Pat is a waste of roster space. This is the third highest paid player in our roster.

My 2c is he has a case for #1. They were spoon-fed big developmental minutes since October, but you can’t honestly tell me that Sarr/Risacher look better than Matas has. Especially if you just consider present and future. His face-up handles, for one thing, are looking exceptional for his lankiness. On top of that making heady system plays, blocks, rebounds and tough shots.
Castle will probably win ROY due to his season long contributions. Matas was iced all year. For better or worse- I’m glad he’s been liberated. I’m glad we lost more games and stayed in the tank race until recently, but I think Billy could’ve won more games with Matas in the early season rotation. Don’t get me wrong. He’s had rough nights. But 8.0 PER Pat…

One overall. I thought he should have been the number one pick and I stand by it. He is clearly the best highest ceiling player in this class, IMHO.
We have Martell Webster. He's called Kyle Korver here, and we shall love him and squeeze him and call him Ashton. -BrooklynBulls

Simmons redrafted the rookies recently and had him 3 or 4 due to opportunities, potential etc. of people like Castle and Sarr. But he specifically called out that he likes Buz and framed the whole discussion around him and how high he should/would go if they drafted again.

Atleast they beat LeBron and Luka twice. I'll take that trade-off any time

I know i have posts buried somewhere here from last summer saying that I think in a few years when doing redrafts, he'll go in the top 3 at minimum, maybe even #1! I know i have stamps here somewhere!
Half was because i love his potential. Half was because i think the rest of this class mostly just sucks.
It's a shame that he wasn't getting minutes like this earlier. He doesn't have a shot at ROY because of Billy

Matas would go as #1 or #2 in draft.. you never know which GM can f..k it up at any moment lol!
But anyway, Bulls have their PF for next decade!

Of course the Bulls lose to THIS Mavericks team. That is something a young team has to learn.

FWIW post All Star game:
Matas: 12.8/4.5/1.9 on 45/33/94
Sarr: 17.2/6.6/2.3 on 41/35/69
Risacher: 13.7/4.4/1.3 on 49/41/72

Re: PG: No miracle finish
Would have been great to pull out the win, but if they're going to lose I cant really complain about a close hard fought battle carried by the youth on the team. A 1 point loss where Matas drops 28/9/6 and Coby goes 25/11 is way different than a 1 point loss where Demar dropped 25 and Zach drops 30 points in terms of how the arrow is pointing for the team.

Giddey has an injured wrist since the LA game, he was questionable. I thought he would have a bad night vs LA, turned out not so much.
