SPURS
In:WCJ/KCP
Out: Vassell/B.Wesley
Vassell doesn't quite fit in well, with Castle/Fox or at least, he would have a secondary role... here he gets depth in positions of need, I also think they are archetypes of players that he would fit in very well.
MAGIC
In: Vassell/B.Wesley
Out:KCP/WCP
They get a scoring guard who fits on the court and fits into the Magic's star timeline... Could they continue trading Isaak for a center (Vucevic?)

Re: Spurs/Magic
I'd do it for ORL...but how about (with Fox coming back), SAS subs in 39yo CP3 for Wesley, ORL adds Jett Howard and the DEN 25 frp? I really like WCJ next to Victor (as well as backing him up at C). They'd be two very complementary bigs. KCP makes any team better, especially a young one...his shooting is off this year, but I'm confident it's situational as EVERY player on ORL is shooting career lows from 3pt. KCP is still a savage defensively and a solid all-around contributor. CP3 is a very strong personality and Alpha leader...not sure how well it will go with Fox as the clear PG boss and Castle deserving the other guard minutes (which makes Vassell moving a possibility). ORL could give CP3 the reins for a year and learn how to actually move without the ball. Hopefully, Suggs and Black learn from the point god and form a long-term formidable backcourt with Vassell.
ORL sends: WCJ, KCP, Jett Howard, DEN 25 frp
SAS sends: Devin Vassell, Chris Paul

Re: Spurs/Magic
No. Vassell has had a subpar season coming from injury, but he's still 24 and signed long term on a descending contract that will be below starter money as time goes by. He hit a shooting slump this season (44.3% fg and 36.3% 3p ATM) but his defense actually improved and he isn't a bad fit with Castle and Fox as long as he hits his 3s, which he's been doing lately (+40% this month). I'm not saying Vassell is untradeable, but Spurs shouldn't sell him for pennies on the dollar. If Spurs find a deal where they get a really good long term solution at SF and he's appropriately valued, then that should be considered. Otherwise keep him, no point in dumping him in an panic move on a subpar season. Getting a backup big who can be a rim protector is a priority for the Spurs but it can be done for much less than this.

Re: Spurs/Magic
I've thought that Vassell got pretty overated on RealGM for a long time, but that Magic package has negative value by a considerable margin. Both Orlando players are overpaid and neither are young enough to even hope for internal improvement.

Horrific for the Spurs. They don't need 2 back-ups, which is what WCJ and KCP would be for them. Better they see if Vassell pans out as a starter.

You might say Vassell is way too expensive to be a backup - get two that actually fit. Both incoming guys are versatile enough to backup 2 spots too…or start at 3&4. Castle is better than Vassell so he’s a backup making $29m

So they'll solve the 'problem' of potentially paying Vassell too much if he becomes a back up... by paying even more ($35 mill) for 2 back-ups). Doesn't seem smart. The Spurs don't need another non-shooter like KCP, and WCJ will only play 15mpg backing up Wemby. Giving up Vassell for that doesn't make sense.

I can understand you calling them non-shooters, based on this season, but EVERY player on ORL is shooting career low from 3 this season…that makes me think it’s scheme or somehow situational. You don’t have to buy that - this is the first time in 6 seasons that KCP is below 39% from 3. Both play excellent to elite defense. WCJ would give Wemby the muscle he needs next to him and can switch out very effectively to defend the perimeter.
I’d envision a starting lineup of Wemby, WCJ, KCP, Castle, Fox…that’s an absurd defensive team.
Also, paying two solid rotation players more than one solid rotation player shouldn’t be a weird concept.

The Spurs learned in Wemby's rookie year that he has to play the 5. Playing another 5 next to him nueters his advantages. KCP seems to be on the downswing, and he's a likely back up for the Spurs too.
