Anybody who can get a team to the playoffs and home court advantage when the best three players are Randle, RJ and a washed up one legged Rose with Elf as the starting PG all season has to be doing something ok I suppose.

Two wins away from tying Pat the rat for 4th for most wins in franchise history in only one more season. One of the two coaches had 4 seasons of Ewing, Oak, Mase, Starks and the other had multiple seasons of Randle, RJ and...not those other 4...

The 'best'?...no...'sucks'?...no
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Not only do the fans know how to coach the team better, they know how the players are being coached better than the players themselves are telling us.

Thibslobbers save the worshipful praise for the playoffs, where your deity constantly gets booted by a lower seed.

This postseason is going to make or break your god.

Hopefully the talent is good enough to overcome the mediocre coaching...if not, follow him out.

More often than not you can tell who was really in the trenches of the Knicks dark days by how they feel about Thibs

Regardless of if he gets fired or not I'll always be grateful for him helping make us not a complete laughing stock.

If the worst problem that leads to board meltdowns is that were not sure if he can beat the best 3-4 teams in the league in a series then we really got it pretty good 8-)

I agree 100%. And still people will lose it over the current state of the Knicks.

the only path to the conference finals is dropping to 4th, playing DET/MIL/IND in the first and Cleveland in the second round.
Unfortunately not gonna happen tho.

listen to this guy. they just pick on brunson and kat. they search for them and they exploit them. accept it or not. it is what it is.

You’re going to have to trade one of them if you ever want to win a chip and the obvious answer is trading KAT. No coach is going to fix KAT’s defense and his offense doesn’t outweigh his negatives. Brunson can at least carry a team.

Thibs turned Randle into a 2x all nba player. Made Nerlens Noel and Bullocks look serviceable. Made Payton look serviceable. Got Ihart paid. Made Donte have a career year. Made KAT an all star starter for the first time. Josh hart is having a career year. Turned Brunson into one of the best PGs in the league. Thibs has his flaws but he’s really gotten a lot of players to look way better under him than any other coach these players played for. Not a single ex Knick has gotten better as a winning player since they left Thibs. They all look worse.

Firing Thibs is also a great way to get Brunson upset. We already made him take a massive paycut.

JB was on his way to become an All Star regardless who's the coach... ditto with Julius, he's a gym rat

The only positive Thibs did was/ has been: not got in their way, by giving them tons of minutes on a long leash... I'm no Julius hater, but he could do no wrong in Thibs' eyes... he could botch defensive assignments and would never ever be benched.

He's not/ never known as an offensive coach HIS WHOLE CAREER, and JB and Ju became All Stars not for their defensive achievements.

I think everyone criticizing Thibs knows that and appreciates that, but with every critique, I wouldn’t expect everyone to preface with a long list of his accomplishments as a reminder that we’re grateful for what he’s done. He obviously doesn’t literally suck, that’s just frustrated fans lashing out like every fanbase does.. with coaches and players.

He’s not perfect tho and clearly isn’t the guy to bring us a title. I wish he was because I respect him (despite the jokes), but he’s just not.

This is interesting because it can speak to the posters or the current state of the Knicks.

Some people are just never happy. Some have a taste of success and want more. Some of us might be a tad emotionally unstable.

As for the team, there is a case to make that we had more hope of landing a generational "star(s)" that could lead us to a championship when we were in the mud. Now we're locked into a team that is good but never going to be great enough to win it all. We've lost flexibility/hope. Idk if i believe all that but there is a case for it.

Also, I don't "always" believe a championship is the goal but that's a different topic.

I think that’s all very reasonable, but between Brunson, KAT and now even OG and Bridges, we should have enough elite talent to beat anybody, especially a couple years down the road. I think we’ll eventually trade McBride, and improve even though posters argue that our hands are tied. I think that’s nonsense.

And most importantly, who in particular did everyone expect to snatch that would have been better than Towns and Bridges?

I don’t mind getting an upgrade but expecting another coach to turn this poorly constructed roster into a championship contender is unrealistic imo. There’s no scheme that can fix KAT’s defense at the 5. Josh hart is scared to shoot 3s and is the reason why he’s been bouncing around from team to team. Brunson will never be a positive defender because of how small he is. Mikal has stopped playing elite defense for years. I mean these are issues that have been going on with these players for years before Thibs even coached them. If other coaches couldn’t fix these problems, then why are we blaming Thibs? I get he could be more creative with the offense but you’re only talking about getting a couple more wins at most. Thats just how I view this. I could be wrong but I just feel like until you fix the roster it doesn’t really matter who’s the coach imo.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to see what Thibs can do with Mitch or a full time center next to KAT and somewhat of a bench, so the roster could be closer to what he needs.

And yes, they can do that even without trading a major piece.

Return to New York Knicks
