Trade the #1 pick for more picks...for the chance to draft the #1 pick…
always a jump shot away.

Chet would have to be included, so there's that.

Kawhi’s health is probably more reliable than Embiid

Tell you this, it would be an all-time ballsy move for a GM to trade potentially the next 'generational' player when he's in your lap already. I can't imagine how high the price would have to be.
Nico Harrison might be a candidate to make that trade, and wouldn't demand all that much. Sorry, couldn't resist.
I could see Morey doing it if we land the top pick. I mean, if KD became available? Maybe a three way deal where we get KD, maybe Jasean Tate and Jock Landale from Houston? Only thing missing is the green font.
If it was the Eagles in the '00's, Andy Reid would draft Maluach or someone, saying we need a center of the future.

Saw this and had to laugh. The color man's reaction is priceless, and I think Giddey might have taken four steps before letting it go.

Resting Leonard on B2Bs seems to be working for the Clippers. I really hope we get to see him and Harden together in the postseason this year. If there is a chance of Embiid returning next season, I see the same type of maintenance continuing.

What a surprise, the general NBA fan is clutching their pearls about the Sixers tanking. I'll be sick if the Sixers are rewarded with a top 5 pick! Washington or Utah, on the other hand, deserve it. Charlotte, Brooklyn, New Orleans, Toronto: all very deserving, high quality franchises.

Re: NBA General Discussion: 24-25
I have this thought when evaluating a player: a good question to ask is, “Is this a player who could play big minutes for the Celtics?”
Before you dismiss it, consider the archetype of every Celtics player. Each player’s style is built around high impact play. You don’t even need to focus on the star players, just look at guys like Kornet, Hauser, Queta, Pritchard, and Tillman.
Then you have multi-positional guard defenders, unicorn bigs, stretch 5s, two way wings, and alpha scorers who plays very good defense.
The basic blueprint for a contender is usually two alpha scorers, 3&D forwards, and a lob-threat rim protector at center, like the Mavs that made the finals and the current Cavs squad. But the Celtics (and the Thunders) are just the advanced version of this.
It’s like… “They don’t just play 3&D, but they can also attack closeouts.” “They’re not just lob threats and rim protector, but they can also shoot threes.” “They aren’t just alpha scorers, but they’re also elite defenders.” “They’re no just your typical spot up shooter, but they also are decent defenders”

For sure:
Likely:
- Quentin Grimes (I’d say he’s the most likely for the season) and Maxey (second most likely)
Maybe:
- Eric Gordon (surprisingly), Jared McCain (Payton Prichard 2.0)
- next season’s version of Justin Edwards (Im putting more value to his play since last month; Isaiah Joe 2.0)
Not likely:
- not healthy Joel Embiid (inefficient alpha and handicap on defense)
- not healthy Paul George (cant shoot)
- Yabusele (handicap on defense)
No chance:
- Kyle Lowry
- Kelly Oubre
- Andre Drummond
…and then you start the see the problem with our team.

Do you think they really believe this ****?
'Dude's on another level': How Nikola Jokic quietly became a defensive analytics darling. From kicked ball violations to memorizing plays, Nikola Jokic has elevated his IQ to become one of the league's best defenders.

Maybe they do. Wouldn't be surprised because most "journalists" are midwits and fake news merchants.
The only stat I see mentioned is defensive box-plus-minus, which is a completely BOGUS stat for Jokic because for Centers it is hugely inflated if they have a high assist number.
Yes, getting a lot of assists ON OFFENSE inflates your DBPM significantly. Even the person who created BPM (and DBPM) admits it has this major flaw.

Made no mention of them trying to land the #1 pick. But it sounds funny when you say it, I guess.
Over the past 35 years (1990–2024), 13 NBA champions had a No. 1 draft pick on their roster, while 22 did not.
