Giannis AntHEATokounmpo

Post#1 » by NYG » Fri Mar 28, 2025 2:17 am

Miami Heat get:
Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks get:
Bam Adebayo
Kel'el Ware
Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Nikola Jovic
10th Overall Draft Pick
20th Overall Draft Pick
2030 Unprotected Miami Heat First Round Draft Pick

The Heat get an elite player who would fit their culture and raise their ceiling tremendously overnight.

The Bucks add a legit stud in Bam, three young guys with potential, especially Ware, and three picks, one of which is a top-10 pick in this draft. There aren't many teams that could beat that and still have a semblance of a remaining roster.

Pretty horrific trade. The Bucks aren't trading him at all, and certainly not for this.

Would make no sense for us to trade for him. We'd be worse of an with no assets to improve. We'd be relying on free agents taking less than they are worth to play with Giannis and Herro. Maybe OKC is willing to part with all the picks they have for Giannis. Try their door

I would think something like this only happens if he demands out, and I think they'd prefer to flip Bam for more draft capital and prospects/expiring deals

I think the heat should just sign Ty Lawson instead.

So the heat build around Giannis and... Tyler Herro?

I guess you just take the elite guy if you can get him and figure it out after. Assuming they'd have a cap space plan in the near future? They'd be pretty asset poor.

The Bucks could do worse, although I imagine they'd look elsewhere for a pick heavy return and full rebuild if they were to deal Giannis. Feels like something OKC would be drooling over

Just curious why Giannis would leave Milwaukee for a worse roster post trade? Doubt there's a realistic way to keep Bam and send Herro back home.

I’d agree that they wouldn’t trade him unless he demands it, but this is not a terrible package.
Ware has turned into a top 5 guy from the last draft, Bam turns 28 for next season and is a great two way player. 10 in this draft is a possible star.

I think the deal would be better if Miami gets some lottery luck and a better pick this year though.
I think if it were to happen there also needs to be more picks added somehow. A third team involved.

Only chance Miami would have at Giannis would be winning the lottery, but putting Bam in the deal makes no sense. Something around Herro/#1 makes more sense for the Heat and the Bucks new timeline as trading Giannis would indicate theyre starting over completely.

This speaks to the fact that the Heat are in a bad situation generally. It doesn’t make this a bad move for them.

Miami doesn't have the assets to trade for Giannis and still have a team to put around Giannis. This is still probably worthwhile for Miami but seems quite pointless for Giannis himself.

Because Pat Riley has so many championship rings he can't open doors himself, obviously.

Personally I think Milwaukee should jump on this deal and flip Bam for more assets, the Giannis era of contending is over and that 2030 pick is gonna be good because Riley will be retired or senile.

Now THAT we can agree on. But the Heat would jump on this if Giannis really could be had at this price.
