For Arvydas! Sabonis to Portland

Post#1 » by NYG » Sun Mar 30, 2025 8:34 pm

Sacramento Kings get:
Donovan Clingan
Scoot Henderson
Robert Williams III
Gary Harris
Jett Howard
9th Overall Draft Pick (via Portland)
25th Overall Draft Pick (via Orlando)

-Gives: Domantas Sabonis

They land 2 really nice prospects and a top 10 pick which could be nice for a pivot to a rebuild and younger core.

===

Portland Trail Blazers get:
Domantas Sabonis
Cole Anthony

-Gives: Anfernee Simons, Donovan Clingan, Scoot Henderson, Robert Williams III and 9th Overall Draft Pick

Blazers add a central piece to build around in Sabonis even if it feels like there would need to be quite a few follow-up deals to rebalance the roster.

===

Orlando Magic get:
Anfernee Simons

-Gives: Cole Anthony, Gary Harris, Jett Howard and 25th Overall Draft Pick

Magic don't break the bank, but land a nice fitting player with their current roster that help space the floor.

I prefer Scoot Clingan and 9 over Sabonis... I mean the prospect is cool and all but it leaves us with more holes than we started with and no lottery pick to fill them

And Anfernee for Cole would not intrest the blazers in the least

Ya I am not a fan of this for Portland.

Would consider Sharpe and the pick but not even excited about that.

As a kings fan, Sabonis to Portland is something I'm in favor of. But this is too much from Portland. To keep Orlando in, what about

Kings out: Sabonis
Kings in: Clingan, Jett, Kris, RWIII, Harris, #9, #25, Future Portland First
Kings get 1 decent prospect, 2 dart throw young guys, 3 1sts.

Blazers out: Clingan, Simons, Murray, RWIII, #9, Future 1st
Blazers in: Sabonis, Cole
Scoot - Sharpe - Deni - Camara - Sabonis
Cole - Blanton - Thybulle - Grant - Ayton
Leaves Portland with a really good bench, and they could even swing Ayton elsewhere for more guard depth and a cheaper center.

Orlando out: Cole, Jett, Harris, #25
Orlando in: Simons

Portland essentially traded three top 10 picks for Sabonis. There's no way he is worth that much.

That’d be enough for this Kings fan.

Sabonis would be nice to have, but not at that price. Wow!

Pass for POR.

Sabonis isn’t good enough to lead a team anywhere.

Kings would be silly not to take this, big time overpay for Sabonis imo.

Part 2?

Sabonis for Ayton, RW3, 9th and '30 UNP Blazers 1st

..or is that too far the other way?

To far. Sharpe/Ayton. Clean. Simple.

Much more realistic. Of course, now SAC’s best players are all, essentially scoring guards…POR can’t strip almost all of their young core for Sabonis. Scoot & Clingan, especially, shouldn’t go anywhere (except ORL :D )

I think the ORL portion is a bit rich for expiring Simons, make it the DEN frp along with the two expirings & Jett.

Okay, so Part 3 haha...

As suggested... Sharpe and Ayton for Sabonis?

The Kings would need some follow-up moves for sure though.

Yes, Sac would be in a transition state. But they’d have a future…

Carter/Ellis/Sharpe/Keegan and all picks, plus Spurs 27 and Minny 31. It’s a real direction for the franchise. Move off the vets and see what happens.

I’m generally ok with this, but Portland needs some kind of protection on that Portland pick. Because they owe the Bulls a pick, the pick is getting decently into the future. I’d happily give the worst of the 2029 Blazers/Bucks/Celtics pick, but not the best of those picks (we don’t own whichever is 2nd best). 2030 I believe can be traded, but again, I’d want a protection. I think given the Kings are already getting a lotto, a recent lotto (Clingan), and #25, the least of the 2029 picks might be appropriate here.

Gut instinct said no to sending out Sharpe, but maybe if Portland really likes a SG in the draft at 9.

I would wonder about the fit with Sabonis and Clingan in Portland

Why would Sabonis as PF work now?
