Both Knick runs came when Kolek came in the game. We gave up the first one and Thibs pulled Kolek during the 2nd run.
Kolek was a +9 and Delon a +8.
Thibs don’t like this rookie. Get your minutes now Kolek and take more shots.

Really not understandable at all. I thought Wright was a complete non-factor until late. Made the game slow, needed a lot of time to even bring the ball up and dump it off. Had one play where he used like half the shot clock to drop it off to Mikal. Guys made some arguments with politics as to why Payne plays more minutes etc. but with Wright being a 32-year old late season signing that really goes completely out of the window. It is reationally not explainable why Wright can get 30+ minutes but Kolek struggles to get to 20 minutes with JB, Payne and Deuce out. I also don't think it can be explained in terms of being an offensive threat---Wright has averaged 6.5 points in 20minutes over his career. Kolek runs the offense so much more smoothly.

This was a good opportunity to play Kolek-Shamet (Wright)-Bridges-OG-Mitch line-up.

Outside of Kolek being a rookie, I think Thibs likes Wright’s size, defense and experience. Kolek is fighting an uphill battle, at least this year.
I get it, the post season game is slowed down and physical but Wright is NOT a PG and we all see that.
Thibs will work around that but not having a true distributor on the floor??? Ouch.

I look forward to Kolek being the regular backup next year and getting more involved in the offense.
Too bad Thibs is so resistant to change and adjustments. Kolek really gets guys set up in good positions with his BRILLIANT passing.
At this point Thibs is more concerned with the post season rotation, which is ironic as he should really be cutting down minutes of almost everyone so we don’t break down again come post season.

Kolek is a good passer but he’s going to need to start showing an ability to score more points against nba defenses as his next point of emphasis

We can’t cut down minutes until we lock in that 3rd seed and well, Brunson Payne and Deuce got 0 minutes so there’s that

Wright is a good defender at the point of attack I think he did a fine job holding it down

thats another really solid win w/o Brunson. Blazers are really feisty. Hope this stretch doesn't cost our wings too much energy going forward.

Well Josh Hart, Bridges and OG are 1st, 3rd and 5th in minutes played leaguewide (Crazy I know) so that ship has sailed already. Luckily though OG was hurt for 4 weeks so he has had a break already. Nowadays as a fan you have to hope for guys getting injured so they get a rest because the coach isn't doing it. God forbid a rookie could get playing time.

I wouldn't mind seeing Wright continue to play honestly.

I need OG and Mikal to keep up this level of play even when Brunson comes back. Share the wealth

Wright might be a short term keeper at back up PG to give Kolek more time to acclimate to playing in the league.

Knicks beat bad teams by forcing turnovers. That won't work in the playoffs vs good teams that won't turn the ball over. Not sustainable, won't get the Knicks out of the 2nd round, not impressed by this wins against teams playing for the lotto, Thibs sucks.

Good news is those guys aren’t really looking run down and ragged and they’re playing some of their best ball of the season. Now there are 8 games left and we are 4 games up on Indiana who thank goodness lost last night. So if we can manage to lock this thing in early maybe we can give these guys a couple games off down the stretch. A good start will be beating the 76ers

he gives us pretty much what you ask for in a backup guard, run the offense and be able to defend and knock down open shots

Our magic number to lock in the 3rd seed is now 4 so that means a combination of 4 Knicks wins or Pacers losses will lock us in at 3rd

76ers Hawks Suns Nets are our most winnable games

Cleveland 2x Boston and Detroit are the tough ones but maybe they’ll mail in a game or two down the stretch

Have regulars ever been sat out for pre playoff rest on Thibs' watch?

I'm really curious what the second unit would be with Wright taking Payne's spot and Deuce back. A backcourt of Wright/McBride would be tough defensively, and the ball movement would be better. I'm just not sure if they'd generate enough North/South pressure to sustain the offense.
PG- Haliburton | Schroder | Sasser
SG- Grimes | Dick | Bogdanovic
SF- Bridges | George

Josh Hart the type of player to miss a few wide open threes that make you want to bench him then finish the game with a triple double and the game saving rebound.

Do you really see Wright taking Payne's role off the bench?

Thibs is all about NET rating so I doubt it. Payne shooting and pushing the pace would be nice.

Delon Wright is the better defender and isn't as reckless with the ball. He is more of a "system" guard where he initiates offense and then runs more sets. When Payne is more of a free spirit out there. When he's hot he can provide a spark but his shot selection is questionable at times.

Against a team like Boston in a potential 2nd round matchup i see Wright as more valuable because of his size and switchablility. BOS would try to pick on and get the smaller Payne in switches.
