one of my favorite players this year. Just aesthetically from the block to the perfect tip by precious over the blazers players to start a 1 man fast break with a beautiful finger roll to finish the play off.

The halfcourt offense has gone through stagnation and lulls all season. The argument for Wright is that his defensive contributions would make up for the offensive dropoff compared to Payne. Deuce and Wright are the two best POA defenders on the team; Mikal/OG/KAT and eventually Brunson are enough to run an offense...especially if you're not making Mikal chase a ball handler through screens 90% of the game.

Edit: and just to throw it back out there again, I'm not even committed to the idea working. I'm just curious about how it'd go.

I’m worried that Brunson is going to try to rush it back in the last 4 games trying to get his accolades and all-nba award and whatever and would get hurt again over it so hopefully they’re handling it responsibly

It's a catch-22, though, because I really hope he can get back on the court with time to shake off any rust before the playoffs, and we're running out of games. Granted, the solution for both could be to bring him back, but on a minutes limit. He hits his marks, he gets 15 mins to get back into NBA speed, but he's not playing 40 mpg fresh off a bad ankle injury.

Really not understandable at all. I thought Wright was a complete non-factor until late. Made the game slow, needed a lot of time to even bring the ball up and dump it off. Had one play where he used like half the shot clock to drop it off to Mikal. Guys made some arguments with politics as to why Payne plays more minutes etc. but with Wright being a 32-year old late season signing that really goes completely out of the window. It is reationally not explainable why Wright can get 30+ minutes but Kolek struggles to get to 20 minutes with JB, Payne and Deuce out. I also don't think it can be explained in terms of being an offensive threat---Wright has averaged 6.5 points in 20minutes over his career. Kolek runs the offense so much more smoothly.

This was a good opportunity to play Kolek-Shamet (Wright)-Bridges-OG-Mitch line-up.

Outside of Kolek being a rookie, I think Thibs likes Wright’s size, defense and experience. Kolek is fighting an uphill battle, at least this year.
I get it, the post season game is slowed down and physical but Wright is NOT a PG and we all see that.
Thibs will work around that but not having a true distributor on the floor??? Ouch.

I look forward to Kolek being the regular backup next year and getting more involved in the offense.
Too bad Thibs is so resistant to change and adjustments. Kolek really gets guys set up in good positions with his BRILLIANT passing.
At this point Thibs is more concerned with the post season rotation, which is ironic as he should really be cutting down minutes of almost everyone so we don’t break down again come post season.

Kolek is a good passer but he’s going to need to start showing an ability to score more points against nba defenses as his next point of emphasis

We can’t cut down minutes until we lock in that 3rd seed and well, Brunson Payne and Deuce got 0 minutes so there’s that

Wright is a good defender at the point of attack I think he did a fine job holding it down

But again, Wright is not a PG. Kolek had more assists than Wright in 1/3 the minutes.
I get the reasons and I said as much.

Thibs is incapable of cutting minutes. You think we will be better off with a better seed and more tired team? What did we learn last year? Insanity?

He needs to comeback before the playoffs though. He's going to need a couple games to shake off the rust.

I actually do think it matters because I’d rather play against the bucks with no lillard who we just spanked than the other options. Might make for an easier first round series. Last year we had a war in the first round

If we get there with no overuse injuries then I agree with you.

Brunson is going to absolutely try to get the last 4 games in... for all-nba purposes and for playoff conditioning. Only way he doesn't is if the ankle is still in really bad shape by then.

He's totally play 25 minutes, slide around and toss up some 3pt attempts to get his 18+ pts and rhythm back... and all-nba award =)

This makes no sense. Brunson is not out here chasing accolades or stat padding. He's not a selfish ball hog either. He is committed to doing whatever it takes to win. He was 7th in scoring and 8th in assists in the entire league when he went down. All the dumb takes about him need to stop.

Last 12 games, we have KAT, OG, and Mikal all putting up 22-25 ppg each while Josh has been a triple double threat every night

Team has enough to win a championship this season. Let's freaking go

yeah sometimes he looks completely engaged and impacting the game...then other times he's just out there if you know what I mean.
