one of my favorite players this year. Just aesthetically from the block to the perfect tip by precious over the blazers players to start a 1 man fast break with a beautiful finger roll to finish the play off.

Block was dope, as for precious sometimes he does sht on the court that makes him look like the most athletic fluid basketball player ever then he reverts back to being precious. Weird player.

yeah sometimes he looks completely engaged and impacting the game...then other times he's just out there if you know what I mean.

Yeah, he doesn't hedge screens or misses a rotation or a lazy box out. But then get him in the open court or with a lil space and his athleticism pops out.

Crazy thing is he is still only 25... maybe the bball iq will develop and he'll understand his role better moving forward.

Worst coaches than Thibs have won championships in the last 5 years, specifically Vogel and Budenholzer.

Wright might be a short term keeper at back up PG to give Kolek more time to acclimate to playing in the league.

I liked his activity on both ends. I don't have any stats or metrics but he didn't look like a negative on the floor. Decent ball handler, as a facilitator I'm not blown away but he looked good at the point of attack.

Keep him in the rotation.

I think for a minimum player he’s great as a stopgap between now and Kolek being ready to be the backup PG and when Kolek is ready he can be benched and play in situational games.

Outside of Kolek being a rookie, I think Thibs likes Wright’s size, defense and experience. Kolek is fighting an uphill battle, at least this year.
I get it, the post season game is slowed down and physical but Wright is NOT a PG and we all see that.
Thibs will work around that but not having a true distributor on the floor??? Ouch.

I look forward to Kolek being the regular backup next year and getting more involved in the offense.
Too bad Thibs is so resistant to change and adjustments. Kolek really gets guys set up in good positions with his BRILLIANT passing.
At this point Thibs is more concerned with the post season rotation, which is ironic as he should really be cutting down minutes of almost everyone so we don’t break down again come post season.

Kolek is a good passer but he’s going to need to start showing an ability to score more points against nba defenses as his next point of emphasis

We can’t cut down minutes until we lock in that 3rd seed and well, Brunson Payne and Deuce got 0 minutes so there’s that

Wright is a good defender at the point of attack I think he did a fine job holding it down

But again, Wright is not a PG. Kolek had more assists than Wright in 1/3 the minutes.
I get the reasons and I said as much.

Thibs is incapable of cutting minutes. You think we will be better off with a better seed and more tired team? What did we learn last year? Insanity?

Thib is going to cut the rotation to 8 in the playoffs on most nights. It's inevitable. Starters play near 38 mins each and three bench players pick up some slack. That means KAT, Hart, OG, Mikal, and JB at 38 or more each. That gives you 50 minutes to fill for the bench. Deuce can give you 20. Mitch can give you 18, depending on the match-ups. That's 12 or so for Payne, Shamet or Wright. I'm a stickler for scrappy defense so I lean Wright at the moment, but Payne and Shamet have had their moments too. Whatever it is, this year (as opposed to last year), we have competent end of bench insurance in the form of Precious, Shamet, Payne, and Wright. Last year, we had cap fodder non-NBA players.

His role? Play sporadically unless really needed to save the HC ass. Then play until the HC no longer needs you and go sit next to PJ Tucker and rot. Then play again because the HC needs you. Then sit again foe no reason.

Let's not pretend there are roles on this team. There are none. That's the problem.

Precious is mainly an undersized 5. As a 4, he completely kills our spacing, especially when paired with either Mitch or Hart.

That is why it is hard to play him.

This makes no sense. Brunson is not out here chasing accolades or stat padding. He's not a selfish ball hog either. He is committed to doing whatever it takes to win. He was 7th in scoring and 8th in assists in the entire league when he went down. All the dumb takes about him need to stop.

He said in the interview when they asked him about it that it is individually important to him so my take is based off his own response.

Afternoon thoughts

OG and this coaching staff deserve a lot of credit for his development on offense. OG did not have this bag in Toronto which is a big reason I was not in favor of the trade at the time but he clearly has a bag and can score 20 plus in his sleep. And he scores from anywhere! A complete player and a future All-Star!

Seeing DVo got into it with Isaiah Stewart was a bitter reminder of what we had and we this current locker room is missing. And it's not about having a guy who starts fights but when we get pushed, we need to push back and we haven't seen it with this group. Maybe it means nothing but I always want the players on the team not to shy away from an altercation.

I personally could care less if Wright played more minutes than Kolek. We won both games! It was clear as day the right move!

Shamet has played really well the last 2 games. The bench vibes just feel different when he hits shots.

Loved how MSG celebrated Clyde's 80th birthday! So cool seeing the old highlights and how happy Clyde was with all the love! Bless this man and appreciate him every game he calls with Breen cause it's near the end and we're really going to miss him.

Best news of the day was Brunson's injury update. Looks like he's getting close and will get some games in before the playoffs which is needed to shake off the rust.

I was impressed with Avdija! Another guy we should have taken over Obi.

When I heard Soso wasn't coming back, I worried we'd wastes the rest of Judge's career. But the last 2 games have been offensive displays I never expected. Mind blown, and hoping for more!

Right field line is closer but, outside of that your stadium is not really much bigger. No excuses that your bums can't hit HRs. This may be considered derailing though so, we will troll each other in the proper channels sir!!!

The halfcourt offense has gone through stagnation and lulls all season. The argument for Wright is that his defensive contributions would make up for the offensive dropoff compared to Payne. Deuce and Wright are the two best POA defenders on the team; Mikal/OG/KAT and eventually Brunson are enough to run an offense...especially if you're not making Mikal chase a ball handler through screens 90% of the game.

Edit: and just to throw it back out there again, I'm not even committed to the idea working. I'm just curious about how it'd go.

The stagnation with Hart and Wright together is another level. If the Knicks didn't force a lot of turnovers, they would have had their asses handed to them by the not that great Blazers.

It's a combination of Brunson being out and none of the other starters being that creatively good on ball, plus Thibs lack of play calling imagination.

Even with Brunson in the offense went through good and bad stretches movement wise, but it generally looked better based on talent.

Maybe all this looks better next year. I have doubts.

It's a catch-22, though, because I really hope he can get back on the court with time to shake off any rust before the playoffs, and we're running out of games. Granted, the solution for both could be to bring him back, but on a minutes limit. He hits his marks, he gets 15 mins to get back into NBA speed, but he's not playing 40 mpg fresh off a bad ankle injury.

If he comes back, Thibs is playing him 45 minutes game 1
