Top 3 Asstes/Players for these teams

Post#1 » by jredsaz » Mon Mar 31, 2025 7:39 pm

As the Durant sweepstakes heats up, what are the top three assets and players do the following teams want to take off the board in a Durant based trade?

East:
Celtics
Cleveland
Knicks
Miami
Orlando

West:
Thunder
Rockets
Lakers
Wolves
Clippers
Mavericks
Mavs

Figure these team could both all have interest in KD and KD has interest in them.

Dallas best assets (taking out AD because the idea would be to pair the duo) would be their own likely late lotto pick this year, Derrick Lively, and the unprotected Lakers 1st. So nothing really exciting, but enough value for one year of Durant especially since they would have to match with Washington and Gafford who are both positive value players at positions of real need for the Suns.

Of course KD is going to decide where he ends up. If he wants Dallas, that package will be enough. Kyrie being hurt though makes me think Dallas will not be his choice unless of course they are willing to cough up a max extension, then maybe?

Shai/Chet/JDub

But outside of 2k I don’t see a reunion happening. Very fun inside of 2k, though.

am i the only one who thinks KD will choose whichever team offers him a max extension like butler did? i think he cares more about that at this point than winning

Chuck answered for the Mavericks. I’ll answer for Mavs…

If Dallas is taking 3 players/assets off the board for KD imo it’s AD, Lively, and the 2031 first. Kyrie shouldn’t be in any trade discussions until he is healthy.

Would think if the offer has Gafford and PJ as half the salary, one of the 2025 or 2029 first is good enough. Phoenix can choose between the two?

East:
Celtics - Tatum, White, Brown
Cleveland - Mobley, Mitchell, Garland
Knicks - JB, OG, Hart (I think they would trade Towns in a 3-way to get a different center)
Miami - Bam, Herro, 2025 1st
Orlando - Wagner, Suggs, Paolo

West:
Thunder - Chet, SGA, JDUB
Rockets - Amen, Sengun, Sheppard
Lakers - Luka, LeBron, Reaves
Wolves - ANT, Gobert, McDaniels
Clippers - Harden, Kawhi, Zubac
Mavericks - AD, Lively, Christie

I think a lot of these teams take more off the table (Houston doesnt trade BOTH Phoenix 1sts, Mavericks dont trade Kyrie, Knicks may not trade Mikal)

I think you are just better off asking what teams best offers are.

Top three assets is weird phrasing that doesn't really push the conversation forward.

As a suns fan I can tell you Butler didn’t get his first choice  KD is going to direct himself to one, two or maybe three places. All of whom will agree to a two year extension. In that scenario I assume the teams in the mix best three assets will be off the board. Hence the thread.

The Thunder have an issue with a secondary scorer. If JDub or Chet step into that role then it is pie in the sky. However, if they get beat by Celtics in the finals or the Lakers, Nuggets or Warriors in the West, a trade for KD isn’t 2k. They have the salary and picks to make a move.

I’d like to know what fans think are their teams top three assets/players so that I can start proposing trades for KD that look beyond those assets.

That’s kinda how I feel. With Kyrie out most of next season a KD trade might not be there move. However, multiple firsts and Lively/PJ isn’t a bad offer imo. Both fit with Booker and the picks allow them to make other moves.

I would not trade KAT or Mikal ether. I wouldn't want to be on the hook for a 4 year max KD at 37 yrs old.

Clippers? Powell, Bogdan, DJJ, Eubanks + picks

Mavs?

OKC?

Houston?

These seem like most likely teams to me.

As requested, as I rank them.

1.) Amen
2.) Sengun
3.) Eason
4.) 2027 Rockets pick with right to swap with BKN UNP
5.) 2027 Suns UNP
6.) 2029 #1 (Rockets get best 2 of Dal / PHX / BK)
7.) 2029 #1 (Rockets get best 2 of Dal / PHX / BK)
8.) Jabari
9.) Reed
10.) 2031 Rockets UNP
11.) 2030 Rockets UNP
12.) Green
13.) 2025 Suns if it doesn't jump (2-4 if it jumps)
14.) 2028 Rockets UNP
15.) Cam

I would not move any of our top 11 for Durant.

This excludes our vets in FVV, Dillon, and Adams who I think hold some trade value, but probably not as much as the value they bring to the team.

You can't really do a 4-year Max to KD since he is turning 38 soon.

I'm also not a Knicks fan. I am a fan of owning them in the post-season though.

Due to his age I’m pretty sure the longest extension KD can sign is 2 years

I figured that, but Green and Jabari (who you will have to pay in 26) are off the table in a KD trade?

Nothing from the Clips tbh, the amount of salary it'll take, assuming not including Kawhi or Harden would just not be worth it. I mean, Zu/Norm/Bogdan matches, but what's the point?

What’s the point for the Suns? That’s my question with that return. I do think the Clips would be happy to make that trade.
