They will all probably play SL as well? Should be interesting watching them plus lottery pick

Ochai and Gradey won't play SL.

He's pretty clearly ahead of Gradey to me. I still have some hope that Gradey can become a positive NBA player, but I see the path for Walter much more.

I dunno Walter can be a ball stopper at times. Gradeys ability to play off the ball/pass willl mesh better with the starters.

Projections with Gradey have to do with him improving his C+S ability (especially from 3) and figuring it out a little more south of the 3pt line. Then maybe adding some mass, managing contact better, improving on D. Maybe seeing the floor a little better. He has some interesting potential, but it's pretty much all orbiting him being a pretty classic movement shooter with a few extra sprinkles. Walter does seem to have, at least in potential, some ability to be a broader threat on O.

Ochai won't since he'll be 25 and entering a contract year where he'll have enough suitors. Gradey absolutely should but might not since he got gifted a starting job all of this year allowing his ego to be inflated more than it deserves lol.

Unfortunately there are 2 sides to the court and Gradey is one of the worst defensive players in the NBA at the moment with not enough offense to offset that.

Regardless, both of these guys will be coming off the bench next year. The competition between Walter/Dick/ Battle/Ochai for the backup SG/SF minutes will be intense. Might even require a trade to patch up our backup C spot if we don't get anyone through the draft.

Nothing to do with ego, players at Gradey's level heading into year 3 just don't play summer league.

Yeah I thought after I posted the Ochai being a 3 year vet now, probably won't play. But Gradey is only in year 2, guys in that year have played SL before.

That's where we differ, Gradey could be the 11th man next year when this team is looking to win games.

His level is overinflated due to this team being ok to punt games for sake of development this season.

The fact that there's a potential scenario where he gets bumped from the rotation entirely next season is irrelevant to whether he plays summer league or not.

I don't really care if his stats are inflated, show me an example of a 14 ppg player even if it's on a bad team heading into their 3rd year who played summer league.

I just posted otherwise about Gradey before seeing your post, maybe you're right.

The question of ego, and being handed things, is interesting. I'm not saying Gradey is a big ego or anything. But it's odd seeing him get the TV ads he gets, when there are two players who will never get that exposure but may well turn out better players than him.

Not saying Masai makes any decisions based on popularity or endorsements either. It's been weird seeing Kelly's Osmows commercial go into heavy rotation right after he got traded.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Year 2 guys do play sometimes but not when they are a rotation player. Even semi established guys don't play, Malachi Flynn wasn't playing after year 2 either. Ochai probably wouldn't have played either last year if he was still on the Jazz, we likely wanted him to because he was having trouble adjusting to our system and we wanted him to get some reps.

Gradey is still one of the better prospects we have. Playing him with the near league worst BBQ trio was going to make him look bad defensively and cut into his scoring (and it did). Battle, in heavier minutes, has not looked as good as Dick against weaker teams. I'm not sold on the 5 or 6 plumbers we are keeping around waiting for a miracle to happen. Right now would be a great time to try and flip some assets for a PG.
