Usually I would take the 29year old KAT over KD any day of the week but I have grown serious doubts this season about the team being able to succeed vs. elite teams with two defensive liabilities in there. IMO a JB-Bridges-OG-KD-Mitch line-up is much much stronger than a JB-Hart-Bridges-OG-KAT line-up. We wouldn't miss a beat on offense while being much much better on defense. We would easily be top 6 in both offensive and defensive rating IMO.

And KD at 36 will still have 4 more good years left. He is in the Lebron mold. He is too unique, too talented, too good to drop of quickly. He will be getting buckets till the age of 40 easily.

I would do that trade.

Go back in time and trade those 5 draft picks for Joel Embiid, Giannis Antentekounmpo, or Zion Williamson.

Would any of those teams take Mikal for any of them, or would they rather have the 5 draft picks?

It would have to be KD + Dunn + future 1st + future 1st swap for KAT + filler (KAT reunites with his boy Booker) and KD would have to sign for 2 additional years at a discounted rate. Even then, we're probably better off waiting on Giannis or someone younger.

The Nets are going to try to use all the picks they got from the Knicks to trade for Giannis.

this also doesn't sound more other than the knicks doing there due diligence which they should. Who knows if names were exchanged but it doesn't sound like anything was close.

It would make no sense to trade a 29 year old for a 36 year old especially considering the contract of KD will be coming due well before KAT's.
