If the 2nd apron weren't a thing, I'd welcome him back in new york. He and Mitch could split a roster spot behind/next-to Towns

That would be a nice set of bigs.
Maybe in the next CBA shared roster spots will be a thing. Between the two players they can’t be available for more than 82 games and the cap number is based on player 1 x games available + player 2 x games available. Why not?

That's a brilliant idea. Especially when (like with Mitch and Porzingus) you have two very skilled players who likely never will play a full season again, it really makes sense--not just for the Knicks but for the NBA as well--to allow shared roster spots as an additional signing option.
Seriously, think about it: Exciting players like Kawhi (and Embiid) would have had their careers extended, and players like Zion suddenly become hot commodities again. Of course, players in shared roster spots wouldn't earn as much total individually--the Players Association probably won't like that element--but teams would be more willing to take chances on such players--which would be cool for the fans too (as these players are exciting as well as skilled). I think it would be a win-win for everyone--teams, players, and fans. brackdan70 for NBA commissioner!
