How long do you think Rhodes can keep up as a face?

I thought at one point, Cena would stay face, and Rhodes would turn heel in the process

As long as he's the biggest babyface in the world, he'll be a face.

Cody needs to win this.

Anointed forever if he wins

Cena get to do the redemption arc after sacrificing his morals, his code for 1 last shot at glory...only to discover that glory has to come from within.

Rock? Comes and goes as he pleases so no point even attempting to create an arc for him. Final Boss? Heel authority figure has been done to death dude.

Nah, I want Cena to win this.

I have zero interest in seeing a redemption arc. We need one last heel run before he retires. What’s the point of finally turning him heel if they’re going to waste it on simply putting over Cody?

Cody doesn’t need the rub of beating Cena to further cement his status in the company. He’s already been anointed.

Cena tends to be the one to put people over though.

Cody will be with the company longer. Cena will be with the company one more year and probably go back to Hollywood. Will they just have him beat Rhodes and shortly retire? Wouldn't that bury Cody Rhodes?

I definitely think there are a lot of options to go from here.

I think a retirement angle as a face just makes more sense.

I think the natural story is he and rock teamed up win the title. When he doesn’t win the title that will break down and cause a rift. I could see Rock turn on him after the loss, making Cena a face again for the final stretch and their likely match.

It doesn’t bury Cody because he can just win it back down the line. Him losing doesn’t hurt him at all because he’s so completely over. Just like Austin and Rock losing their titles during the peek of their reigns and have them chasing didn’t hurt them either.

Cody will be the face of the company for a long time. I would prefer for Cena to break the record and get one last little run with it, and then drop it back to Cody.

But hey that’s just me.

Reading somewhere that they might go with the changes Cena was referring to during his interview with Van Vliet instead of the Dr. Of Thuganomics which the crowd will love. Should be a fresh take kinda like the JD Edge where we understand he should be a heel but quietly cheering because well, he's Edge

Yeah, I think bringing back Thuganomics would have been silly now that I think about it.

I haven't watched again since the EC. But I think they have the right angle for Cena as a heel. He's basically a "ring chaser" now, "bottoming to the Rock" so he can get the title again and break Ric Flair's record. If that happens, it will feel tainted. The fans will hate it.

Gunther/Jey has to be one of the worst world title feuds going into Mania ever

Gunther should decimate Jey.
Tbf, Jey is huge over with the fans, but to me he nothing but an entrance. A great on to be fair, as I got to experience it.

Once it's about the in ring aspect, he's just not that good...

In other news, I went to RAW in Brussels tonight.
First wrestling show ever. What an experience!

The atmosphere was insane. You could see the wrestlers enjoy every moment of the show.
I just wish they'd play the old Finn Balor entrance music. That entrance is so so good.

I got to talk with Kaiser after the show. He said it was hard to concentrate on doing heel things, because when he entered, he got cheered so much. Class guy!

Also, when you see them on tv, they look jack af, but holy **** when you see them in real life
I'm not a small guy, but I felt tiny

Cena cut an amazing promo, it had so much real emotion to it. And the crowd was completely bonkers, omg. Euro crowds are the best. I watched the AJ Styles/Cody match again the other day just to watch those freaks from Lyon go completely **** every time AJ did something. Was incredible.

Envious you were in the building for the Cena promo.

Wasn't a 10 out of 10 but it's a didn't era and we're all just playing along now so you can't compare it as if it's "real to me" era.

Euro crowds are the best. Singing, chanting, the whole nine...it translates so well through the screen.

As for the dude sho posted Jey v Gunther ain't it - Jey gets his win, Gunther is made.

Cody v Cena hopefully is Cody goes over, Cena doesn't end his farewell as a heel.

No one wants to see that even though that promo stands as "real" - he wasn't wrong from his POV if you can see it as character work.

How easy is it for Cena to cut that promo? I imagine easy af since he literally carried the promotion on his back and sacrificed everything for that spot.

From a certain POV he's right. Which is what all good heels do.

The whole no new look, no new music, you only get to look in the mirror is hidden gold.

Picking them out in the crowd was glorious too.

"You sat on your ass and watched me be great..."

That'd be Kobe if he was a wrestler and turned heel.

There's so much in his promo that in a different era it would hit differently.

Now? Great promo from Cena. Well played and performed. 8 out of 10 performance and the reason it loses 2 points isn't on him - it's just a different era.

When Andre brought Bobby Heenan to Piper's Pit in 87 we were kids - well I was.

Now? It's like applauding a great actor

The segment was fine but it would have been more effective if it was 13 minutes rather than 25. The crowd was more interested in chanting and singing than sincerely engaging with the product, as all modern crowds are.

Euro crowds are better than the majority of the US crowds.

Unless it’s a major PPV or the raw after a major PPV, or a certain city, most crowds these days just lack the same enthusiasm and energy.

New Day heel turn and Wyatt Sicks debut have been completely fumbled, those were such hot angles at the time

Gunther showed again why he shouldn't lose against Jey Uso.
It shouldn't even be a real contest, but a squash.

I feel the same way with the Wyatt Sicks is the same way I did Bray before his passing.

The group does not appear enough. Bo Dallas does not wrestle enough. Feuds in wrestling need to have in ring action- thats where feuds go. Its the natural and only real ending in pro wrestling.

WWE has just gone way too big with the spookiness of the group. And it never leads to a good match. Not even an acceptable one in most cases.
