Re: Middleton/Johnson to Wash for Kuzma/Baldwin
aj hasnt shown anything whatsoever that hes worth a damn in washington. people should stop. marjon would be putting up better numbers and have the "highlights" in the minutes
thats not to say he doesnt have a shot. of course he does. but between him and kpj i wouldnt even hesitate on who id want on my roster the next 5 years of the two. neither id miss if they were gone either.
this team needs a young brogdon is what it needs. rollins will be fine too for now

Someone said it here but that wasn't the Middleton trade, it was the AJ Johnson trade. Just devastating.

You’ve never been more wrong and time will tell that lol. MarJon? Seriously? AJ has shown more in a week than he did in 3 years. And I was a MarJon truther.
And even if you’re right, is Patrick Baldwin Jr. working out as a Buck? You’re objectively wrong both on a talent and on an asset management front.
We put Delon Wright out there for 26 games at 25/25 splits but the 19 rookie didn’t show enough? You sound as ancient as Doc.

It may have been the Middleton trade, but not the Middleton trade people thought it was.
Did that make sense? It was a fun turn on words in my head. I'll see myself out.

It may be in a couple of years we come to find we traded the two best players in the Middleton deal.
It may be in four or so years we find we traded 2 all star players for Kyle Kuzma.

i think hes got a shot but to get all bent up right now about it is dense. hell be lucky to be as good as brandon jennings and even that is a serious reach imo

I think AJ is showing enough signs to be cautious, and maybe it's a defense mechanism, but I'm also not bent out of shape of losing him yet. Don't get me wrong the trade **** sucked any way you slice it (unless there's some rabbit in that hat this offseason with the "flexibility") but I'm closer to GOS's side that he kinda still sucks and the odds are against him ever not sucking. Generally I'd tend to believe he's on his Tony Wroten **** right now, doesn't feel anything to a Tobes level yet. Still young, super talented, with our luck he's probably awesome but I'll wait this one out.

The peeps that were here remember that Tobes was putting up multiple 30+ and 20/10 games immediately after we dumped him for a half season rental of the podcaster now coaching the Lakers. Sucks to see these kind of flashes from him in another uniform, but this ain't a Tobes situation at all.

If you guys want to be in denial about the category and magnitude of **** up this trade was from every angle, done in the name of preserving our ability to trade our 2031 pick, honestly, I wish I could do it, too.

If the worst happens you know Doc will pass the buck and say Horst was the problem.
Don’t let the media cover for their guy.
Doc needs to coach like his job depends on it. There’s no excuse for a team with Giannis to be this bad throughout his tenure.
If Rivers fails to ownership needs to have him fired (not promoted!) even if it costs a lot of money.
Yes Bucks need new leadership in the front office but no Doc hasn’t shown any reason to trust him in an elevated position much less his current one.

I think people are bent out of shape because Johnson has been outplaying Kuzma on the court over the last few weeks and it sucks that Bucks fans probably would never have gotten to see it this year anyways because Doc is a robot. And now with Dame out, we could have seen some epic battles for playing time between AJ and Rollins. Hell, play them together in the backcourt. Both are lanky and shown signs of being perimeter defenders.
His interviews remind me of young Giannis with the way he's determined to be great. I love Brandon Jennings, but he never had the mindset of a killer looking to sacrifice everything to get 1% better each day. He enjoyed his NBA party night life and let his talents take him as far as they could.

The thing that will easily be lost in history. Kris was cooked and this got us 25 million dollars in luxury tax relief.
Have you seen through 7 months with the team to risk 25 plus million(plus repeater penalty) for AJ?

AJ Johnson is also putting up 20 in a game where Jordan Poole is chucking. To me that says a lot.

I could not give one lonely **** about some hedge fund douche and his enabling gas station buddy paying 25m in penalties to make my team's outlook any degree of better.

Re: Middleton/Johnson to Wash for Kuzma/Baldwin
I was negative on AJ when I saw him on the Herd. He didn't have a grasp of the game.
On the other hand, his athleticism is real and he finishes at the rim better than most veterans.
What he has going for him is how young he is. He's 5 years younger than Tonje was for the Badgers this season.
This trade should be the undoing of Horst and I also think Doc loves Kuzma and had a hand in it.
If Dame doesn't come back this season, we'll probably ride this disaster back again, blaming it on injuries, rather than talent and coaching.

Re: Middleton/Johnson to Wash for Kuzma/Baldwin
Regardless of what you think of AJ, and regardless of what he becomes, it’s an absolute terrible process of a trade.
If you draft a 19 year old in the first round, it’s because you believe in their ability to eventually be a positive player. Sending them out in year one, either means you are admitting you made an abysmal draft selection and they have no shot of making it, or you’re completely changing course and abandoning a process altogether.
AJ showing flashes likely means you gave up the best player from the deal in 2 or 3 years, and you also happened to give up the best player now in Middleton.
Trades are usually won when you get the best player now or the best player later, and I’m pretty sure we lost this trade twice.

Re: Middleton/Johnson to Wash for Kuzma/Baldwin
Like, if you wanted to duck the second apron, and you didn’t like the players available at 23, you could have just attached that first to Pat at the draft and sent them to Detroit.
You would have ducked the 2nd apron, and you’d still have the better player in Middleton. We absolutely would have hated that at the time, but that sure would have been a better situation than what we ended up with.
