Zero turnovers for JK.

On TNT they called Podz a "second year player out of St Mary's". Ouch!

Needed kuminga defensive rebounding, it was huge, Lakers were getting all the defensive rebounds before he entered. He was able to out jump the taller Lakers.

He's a good finisher; the biggest issue I see with him is he decides what he's going to do before he gets the ball vs making decisions once he gets the ball which I don't see changing anytime soon hence me not liking him getting the ball early and trying to score. Now, there seems to be a specific play which I saw once again tonight and I think 1-2 other times recently form Kuminga where he cuts across the lane to get a pass and instantly passes the ball to either the corner or pass to the baseline to a player cutting, a set play which he can execute. If he's retained for a large amount moving forward, the offense probably has to change to better use his finishing and the ball finding him less often early on to not have the offense come to a stop. It seems talent wasn't what was keeping him off the court as a high draft pick, it's his style of play vs how GS wants to play.

Btw, as I thought, Moody was able to contain Luka, at least, tonight. It's the kind of matchup Moody does really well using his length and strength. It's a guy like Shai or Ant that will probably give him real problems in the PO.

Also, wtf, Luka needs to eat more salad. Dude is looking way way too chunky.

JK has been trying to run offense more often lately, which has really helped his fit. There are certain passes that we have programmed into him to look for Steph.

JK was really good this game. He didn't break off the offense too much, it happened a few times but he's cut it down a lot. His defense was pretty good as well.

I don't equate making a basket as running the offense correctly. If I can tell that if he gets the ball he's going to try to score, I would expect some of the better bbiq guys on the court know that too and those kinds of plays get exposed in the playoffs when teams can sit down and prepare for them. How he is now, he needs to be in the dunker's spot or posting up in the low post which GS doesn't really do all that much.

He can sit on the wing and cut into the lanes when they focus in on jimmy or steph as well. He really needs to play like GP2 with the option to take advantage of size mismatches

One big difference between the Lakers with AD versus Luka.

In the playoffs series a couple of years ago, AD definitely shut down the paint for the Warriors, including Curry. I remember plays where AD switches to Curry out beyond the arc but Curry struggled to drive to the hoop because AD is mobile enough to pursue and still contest his drives, as well as getting up on him beyond the arc.

Obviously other players have easier time getting into the paint as well, JK and Butler drawing fouls on Jaxon Hayes, who's got the length but isn't the rim protector that AD is -- few players in the NBA are.

This game, Curry wasn't getting a lot of looks from 3 in the first half so he looked at driving, hunting switches on Luka and breaking him down off the dribble. Then in the second half he still kept looking to drive if the Lakers forced him off the 3 but some big 3s opened up.

Also Kerr was repeatedly telling them, secure the defensive rebound and go. Apparently they believed the Lakers transition defense could be exploited. At the start of the game, the Lakers were getting offensive rebounds though. But the Warriors matched their Offensive Rebounds for the game and out rebounded them overall.

I want the rookie JK Kerr has him do... simple lobs and nothing else.

That should be his only game, but he is asked to camp at the 3 point line.... that is and probably never will be his best skill.

It is almost like the exact opposite with Moody. I don't want him dribbling inside, just camp at the 3 point line.

Either Lakers were going to be too big....or Warriors were going to make them look like traffic cones. It was thankfully the latter. :)

One of the most enjoyable games of the year.
