OKC-Chi

Post#1 » by pipfan » Fri Apr 4, 2025 4:51 am

Two ideas (assuming OKC doesn't get the Philly pick and likes someone at #10)
Dieng/#19 pick for JCarter/#10

OKC gets a higher pick to get "their guy". Doesn't seem like they'll develop Dieng
Bulls get a young big with potential to move back 9 spots

JCarter is just expiring salary filler here

#2-bigger deal
Topic/Dieng/#19 pick for Ball/Ayo/#10
OKC probably wouldn't want to very solid bench guards in Ball and Ayo, but gives them awesome depth

Bulls get 2 young kids with tons of potential

Dieng hasn’t shown anything in the league to be worth moving down 9 spots in the draft

Yeah I think Presti adds a late first if he wants someone at 10, but Chicago needs to be finding their guy more than OKC does..

Find a second to trade if you want Dieng .

If we still believe in him , we probably won’t trade him and if we aren’t , his value is a second .

Edit - your bigger deal won’t work . If OKC is trading for rotational pieces it’s probably a forward rather than a guard . Big forward preferred.

I don't think the Bulls would be interested in relying on Dieng who has yet to play 40 games in any of 3 NBA seasons. Not that there's a huge dropoff from #10 to #19 but they might as well stay where they are

They also don't need a #12 pick rookie PG who hasn't played an NBA minute. They have raw in undrafted Jahmir Young from the G League who gave them 5 minutes against TOR. They signed Lonzo Ball because he can play and he's a leader, not just a $10M trade chip.

Yeah I don't think Chicago would value Dieng like this, but I do like him for Chicago.

What about if Miami takes the play in spot from ATL, 19, 15, Dieng for 10, Carter

Pretty sure I'd just keep the 10th pick

Wow, that seems really good for the Bulls
Chi should have to throw in the Port pick, I'd think

Awful for the Bulls. Dieng has shown nothing in three years, I would understand if some team wanted to take him if the price was low (like mid second rounder) otherwise it makes no sense. He's underwhelmed prettty badly so far for a former 11 pick, no way does he bridge the gap between 19 and 10.

Feel like it's closer to a straight swap of expirings than this. OKC might even just dump him for a roster slot honestly.

I do like the overall strategy of eating OKC's table scraps though, hopefully no other front office figures it out.

Bulls would have too many contracts for next year, can't fit two rookies and re-sign Jones and Giddey, but the value is definitely closer.

I'm working off some old trades that stick in my head, but I don't think 19 is enough to jump from 15 to 10. And while I like Dieng's tools he hasn't shown a lot consistently yet.

Honestly you could probably have Dieng for free.

With how much time left on Dieng rookie contract , his value is minimal . A second is considered a very good deal .

If we aren’t keen to keep him long term and or give him playing time … moving up from say pick 58 to pick 56 is a very very good deal for OKC .

I think he has more value than this-but who knows
Port pick for Dieng?
OKC saves some $ (Bulls have a TPE) and they add another future pick
Bulls get a big kid who seems like he has a lot of talent.
