I do not get fans who still want a player who talked **** about your team and turned them down for Brooklyn of all places!

The Suns problems are with terrible roster construction. They are _lacking_ at PG and center. Ok. For them specifically maybe Giannis would solve the center problem. But that's not a question the Knicks need to address. A fit Mitch (+Huk) is pretty great if you are prepared to live with a non 3pt shooting centre - such as Giannis. Ofc health/depth is a problem for all of these teams, the Suns and the Bucks as well as the Knicks.
Would the Knicks prefer to live in a besartian world of a starting five of
Mitch
Kat
KD
Kyrie
JB
which could be possible ...
Absolutely.
Giannis
OG
Mikal
Deuce
JB
Meh. That's not competitive with the Celtics. Not unless Giannis takes KP out of the equation again.
so your actually serious?
Lets first start with the CBA.
KD - 55 MM
KAT - 50 MM
JB - 35 MM
Kyrie 44 MM
you have 185 MM tied up in 4 bad defensive players and your basically already at the 2nd apron? Your trading OG? This isn't NBA 2k.
I would 100% put a ton of money that Giannis/OG/Mikal/Deuce/JB is a much more competitive team vs the celtics than the other team. They just put KAT/KD/Brunson/Kyrie in a bunch of screens and kill us.
Giannis + defender
OG elite defender
Mikal + defender
Deuce + defender
I mean, I'm assuming Thibs isn't going to be the coach of this.
I am not a fan of thibs but the defense already isn't good and in your scenario you are replacing OG and Mikal with KD and Kyrie...that would be atrocious defensively with maintaining Brunson and KAT.

It's a business. KD had been around the block enough that previous conversations would be irrelevant. It's not the danger Knicks team, not the same FO, and not the same coach.

Re: KD to the Knicks part 2?
fwiw, I think Kyrie is (completely justifiably) going to want to be traded for cents on the dollar this off season, and (i) that probably suits the perverse Mavs ownership and (ii) seems extremely hard to resist.

But if you're going for Giannis, you need to keep KAT, or get a floor spacing C. I shudder at the thought of a Hart-Giannis-Mitch frontcourt, zero spacing at all.
Tom would have a 4 hour erection coaching that line up

I just don't think you can afford 2 +50 MM salaries and that is with Giannis going into the 60's down the road.
Also there is no way MIL accepts a trade with us without KAT involved...they need an all-star in return.
Maybe Brook Lopez would be interested in joining Giannis as a FA.
I would absolutely love Brook coming here. That's my guy.
However, considering my track record of wanting former players from the other team coming here, I would advise against it

I do KAT for Giannis. But we would need to find a stretch 5. And those aren't a dime a dozen.

I agree. The guy has been low key clowning us for a while. Great player but I never liked him ever since the way he departed OKC. I'd have a hard time rooting for him. Giannis I get, KD not so much.

Re: KD to the Knicks part 2?
The thing people really need to understand is that we're at a point where you can't do two for one trades, you cannot give up more rotational players to get back 1 single player. We don't have the picks or caproom to fill the holes left by losing multiple starters. You end up in a place where you're trying to fill those gaps with vet minimum guys like the Suns and Bucks have been doing.
They way to build this team is to look at what's weak, and fill those holes. Brook Lopez or any floor spacing 5 would be the player to add, we are under the second apron right now, so we can add to the team. We need another big wing, and another big that can hit the three would give us another dimension to the team. If after next season KD wants to come here for the vet minimum? of course, but trading multiple starters to get him is asinine.

You will lose your money. KD hasn't beaten anybody since Golden State. KD teams don't win or advance deep. And he is way too sensitive for NY fans.HopelessKnick wrote:prophet_of_rage wrote:Nope. They just seeing a sexy name.Capn'O wrote:Has anyone noticed that the Suns suck?

Would you trust KAT in a playoff series against the Celtics, OKC or Cavs more or KD? IMO KD 24/7 any day of the week. I'll give you some splits:
KAT in those 7 games against the top 3 teams has taken 15 three pointers---overall! These teams seem to be able to easily take away the 3 point shot from KAT, already limiting his effectiveness. KAT has averaged 17 points in those 7 games.
Durant has averaged 32points on 62% shooting and 55% from 3 against Boston and Cleveland in 3 games, shooting 5 3s a game. Last year he averaged 33points on 60%+ shooting against Cleveland and Boston in 4 games. He completely shreds those teams. He also got 25points per game against OKC in 3 games.
If the money is on the line I take KD over KAT, even at the age of 37.

KD couldn't even beat Al Horford off the dribble like 4 years ago versus the Celtics.
The Knicks should not bail the Suns out. Let him rot.

You say that like that's a bad thing. Al was still pretty mobile. I'd want a pick back in a KAT/KD trade so long as we have a follow-up trade for a C.

Few people realize this but to trade for a 37 YO KD who makes 57 million next year....you either would need to trade the 29 YO KAT or all 3 of Bridges, Hart and Mitch Robinson to get close to KDs money.

Karl for Giannis is fairly close money wise. Bridges makes 24.9, Sabonis 43. Youd need to add Hart at 19 and then it works.
