Bulls Use Port Pick/TPE for young talent (OKC, Hou)

Post#1 » by pipfan » Sat Apr 5, 2025 7:05 am

Bulls have some nice young talent. Looks like we're going to build around Giddey/Matas/White and the #11 pick
We have a TPE to absorb a contract, and the Port pick, plus room under the lux tax (even with Giddey at $30 million)

Would Hou send Whitmore for the Port pick?
Would OKC send Dieng and a few 2nds for the Port pick? I know some said in another thread that Dieng has little value, but I think he has some
Not sure on Henricks' value? If Utah will keep Lauri and Henricks will recover might be a good "buy-low" chance

Any other players like this out there? Bulls got a win in Giddey, and maybe can do it again. AKME have no interest in tanking, so might as well roll the dice on a young talent.

I would call the Pacers for Jarace Walker, he barely plays 15 minutes and they will soon have to pay him... I would offer a contract to Wiseman (for the minimum) this offseason... Why doesn't GG Jackson play for the Grizzlies? Is he hurt? I would ask about him.

The Portland pick that is protected 1-14 and is currently at 9?

Yeah, I don't see anyone trading anything for a pick that will not convey.

Sorry, I should have explained-it's lotto protected through 2028. I think it looks probable that Port makes the playoffs in the by 2028

And I like the JWalker mention. If Indy keeps Obi, not a lot of minutes for Walker in the next few years, so Indy could save some $ and add a future pick

We don't "soon" have to pay Walker. He has two more seasons of rookie control. He has a clear pathway to becoming an integral rotation player for us at a minor blip to the cap (6.6 Million in 2026, 8.5 Million in 2027) as this allows us to stay below the Tax while staying competitive around Haliburton/Siakam.

Remember to do minimal research (For example, looking at the protections of the pick and length) before posting.

Y’all should take a look at the last 5 games for Walker. He’s finally playing and he’s producing, especially defensively. And as the only true two way combo forward on the roster, and still not quite halfway through his rookie contract, he’s not getting dumped. He’s been on a slow developmental pathway and it’s starting to pay off (rebuilding his shot form from scratch last year, developing his defensive focus and effort this year, etc).

As for Wiseman, he’s not an impact on Wiseman in any way, as James is a pure 5, while Jarace is a 3/4. I imagine one of James or Isaiah Jackson may return next year, but not both.

As a blazers fan, I’m happy if they want to hypothetically trade our lotto pick that isn’t in their possession yet, I say let em
Somewhere trying not to offend Texas Chuck.

Vuc+ Carter para Ayton
Or
include the Blazers' selection and a pick swap this year?
Vuc/Carter+Blazers FRP+Bulls 25(now 11) for Ayton+Blazers 25(now 9)

I understand that Ayton is no longer a prospect... but they continue to rejuvenate and he gains a center archetype that they lack and that could be a long-term asset...

This is very interesting-Bulls move up a bit and get a younger center.
Blazers get their pick back. Vuc is a place holder to help mentor Clingan, and he plays nightly
I like it, a lot-if Ayton is engaged. How's he been this year?

Agbaji? The Raptors can't afford to extend him so future flexibility would work for them

I'm not the best person to evaluate him, but looking at his stats (some monstrous updates when he's motivated vs. the Suns, etc.) I think he's a center with a very high ceiling (top 10 at his position) if he's in the right situation (competitive team, a point guard who feeds him, a big market, etc.), and I think Chicago checks a lot of boxes.
