Why would the Nuggets do this?

The Nuggets will quickly laugh at this offer from the Rockets. It's ether include both Amen Thompson/Sungun and basically every pick the Rockets have or no deal.

The Rockets could offer their entire franchise and it wouldn't be enough. This isn't a deal anyone but Nico Harris makes.

I value 4 unprotected picks from spiraling franchises very highly, and Rockets are the only team with existing defensive infra structure and game plan that fits Jokic, I think the offer may be a bit short, but I didn't expect this pushback TBH, Oh well.

I think a Rockets fan proposed OP's offer for Giannis in another thread and it was quickly shot down as not enough. the gap is even wider for Jokic

Exactly...I was searching for the words and you beat me...NBA is still a business, relying on customers - you just can't trade Jokic, regardless of "value", while he's still the very best, most humble, solid guy in the league to build around.

*There's NO ONE Luka would rather play with, so as long as that dream scenario exists...NO

Even if they did this its still a no. Only way jokic is moved is him asking to be moved.

The Rockets are happy with the team that they have.
They can be competitive for the next ten years, at least.
I don’t see any major moves anytime soon.

offer all this for Giannis in 2026 if the Bucks don't figure something out by then. Denver should have no interest in trading Jokic while he's at the top of his game.

So you'd turn down a 3 peat level young team.

You would have to trade the entire team to get Jokic.

So, yes.

Regardless of value, what exactly is the incentive for Denver? They have a Top 25 player of ALL-TIME, during his prime. It is far easier to re-tool around a Top 25 player of all time than it is to acquire a player who will ever be in the conversation of Top 100 of all time.

That's where the pushback for me relies. Jokic automatically makes a team he is on a contender. The Rockets would be instant contenders the day this trade is made.

They commited their cap to the wrong players and are out of picks, there is no easy way out.
The trigger is the understanding this is a capped out, no future assets team that has very low ceiling.

I dont think their ceiling is low. They just need better health from Murray (and maybe better bench bigs) to have a shot at the championship imo

Is Jokic demanding a trade?
I think other teams will beat that offer if so.

Jokic is locked up on a contract and young enough that the Nuggets have multiple years to see what they can do to build around him before having to truly consider selling Jokic off, at which point he likely still has a crazy high amount of value barring a career ruining injury. It is simply too early for them to consider trading him.

As big Nikola Jokic fan it would be a dream for me to see him surounded with players who actually try hard all the time.
However there is not a single team that can make reasonable offer for Jokic right now(unless he is asking out and thats not happening), while keeping enough good players to be real contender.

I think almost every team in the league (including the Rockets) could offer every pick and player they have for Jokic and Denver would (and should) still say "no."
