Warriors now 20-5 since the Butler trade.

Post#1 » by Deivork » Sun Apr 6, 2025 8:48 am

The Golden State Warriors are 20-5 since acquiring Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline. They're 20-4 with him in the rotation.

https://sports.yahoo.com/article/lebron-james-addresses-golden-state-200100778.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAL7aYiYGAHDvMEmjh85oy-3eaarMvYEkT0NZDYKiel3driW4VR3PpQ0YFB_CZlLYID8PRB5MCId_O7bCVOOT1sz5NwBZd43_4qxkKaHsNIBxk-v2643nhAXmJjJFo1Bi7AjI_wFOwqNK6LR6KF7lSYrcMlDHKGbjwwcURI7TatzR

Following the RS from afar this year, but color me impressed. Good job Dubs.

I just would love that neither Jokic, Curry nor James would face each other in the first round. Seems too likely though.

Thoughts on the stretch?

this is an even more talented Warriors team as the one that won a championship a couple of seasons ago. They're very capable of winning it all. I would not want to face them

Didn't they only lose twice with Draymond, Butler and Steph all active? Very scaring stats those are, I would not want to play them in first round, but West shaped in a way, almost every play off team looks scary, Imagine most would agree that the only teams you would want in first round by now would be Memphis, and maybe Houston, but even then I don't know. Everyone else seems like could make a run for the Finals even.

If Nuggets v warriors series started tomorrow, I would probably favor Dubs, tho as Draymond and Butler hater, I will cheer against them personally. Scary cause it feels like Butler has another gear ready, his stats aren''t even good yet.

I think they're the second best team in the West at the moment. I could see them giving OKC some trouble but ultimately I think OKC wins in 6 or 7.

They lost only twice when Curry/Green/Butler play 20W - 2L. And they lost to DAL w/o Doncic and to DEN w/o Jokic/Murray.

Since Butler trade:

- 25 games played; 20-5 W/L
- 121.7 ORtg (+7.2 rORtg), 111.0 DRtg (-3.5 rDRtg), +10.8 NRtg

In games Butler and Curry have played:

- 20 games played; 20-2 W/L
- 123.3 ORtg (+8.8 rORtg), 110.0 DRtg (-4.5 rDRtg), +13.3 NRtg

13-0 I believe with the current starting line up, the trio plus Moody and Podziemski.

Still height challenged though, they might have more chance against current Lakers than against the AD Lakers.

I am hopeful Jimmy has another gear as well, he hasn’t needed to do much more so far, and I suspect being full on play-off Jimmy probably takes quite a toll on his body.

The secret to the Warriors success is their roleplayers. Podz, Moody, Kuminga, Looney, GP2, Santos, Hield, Post. Feels like every game half of these guys are balling out. Warriors never had a rotation this deep on any of their prior contenders. Their bench is winning the +/- battle against the opposing bench 90% of the time.

By far the 2nd best team in the Western Conference and the 4th best team in the NBA. It's only team in the Western Conference that has a chance of beating the Thunder in a playoff series. The Warriors are actually a very bad match-up for the Thunder. They have the defense to slowdown SGA and Jalen Williams. They got a solid big men rotation to cause problem for Chet Hologren and Isiash Hartenstein. They have good supporting players to help take the scoring load off from Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler with players like Mosses Moody, Brandin Podziemski, Buddy Hield,Quentin Post, etc. They have good coaching with Steve Kerr. They have experience. They have the star power with Curry/Butler. I favor the Thunder in a playoffs series, but wouldn't the least bit surprised if the Warriors defeated them.

They're good role players if you ask them to do only that. As shown by their performance before Butler arrived, when they would reliably fall apart when Steph was rested, they do need a leader. None of those guys can run an offense. But yeah, they do well when there is a chief on the court.

When I heard he was being traded, I questioned how much drive he still had (at this point of his career) to winning. Thought he'd be more about getting paid than he would be into competing.

I was wrong.

Pretty good. Puts them as 3rd best in the league over that time frame.

If they did somehow manage to get through the Western Conference and OKC in particular, I would be hoping the Celtics take out the Cavs, as imo the Cavs are probably the worst match up of all for them.

Also Clippers.

This has the makings of a jinx thread.
Look for a first round elimination.

I was a really big Butler to GS guy for awhile once it became clear he wasn’t staying with the Heat but haven’t really watched them at all.

So I’m just here to toot my own horn really.

They are good. I would put them in the same bucket as I would Denver, Minnesota, LA, New York, and Houston. I don't think they are on the same level as Boston, Cleveland, and OKC.

They are old and small, I expect them to get demolished if they face OKC.

OKC, LAL, and GSW are the top-3 contenders in the Western Conference IMO.
