Celtics Break Record For Most Threes In A Season

The Boston Celtics broke the record for most threes in a season during their 123-103 win over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.

They surpassed the Warriors' mark of 1363 threes from two years ago after Payton Pritchard's made three in the second quarter.

The Celtics, who finished 14-of-39 from three in the game, have now made 1370 threes on the season.

"We've got a really good team," said Jayson Tatum after the game. "A talented group of guys. When we play to our strengths, everyone, for the most part, we space the floor and [everyone] is a threat from behind the line. It's a credit to guys for working on their game. It's what makes us special."

The Celtics are also third in league history for most threes in a season, finishing with 1351 last year.

I mean Kobe was a big time chucker still got 5 championships because the team could also play defence.. So if you can play good defence then even if your shooting percentage is a bit low you can win..

Shaq and Pau had a lot to do with it. The Kobe/Smush Parker Lakers weren't so hot.

Defense is great, but imagine if BOS had great defense paired with better shot selection. Pritchard, Hauser, KP and White should definitely be getting them up. But Tatum is shooting 56% from 2pt and 34% from 3pt. Brown is shooting 53% from 2pt and 32% from 3pt. They combine for 16 3PA per game. They could benefit from a little more discipline. These are the two main guys that should be taking advantage of all the space the 3pt shot is giving them.
