Four-point play to stay undefeated. Priceless!

ive seen revenue sharing mentioned a few times about college ball in general lately, whats the basics of this? If Frost keeps expenses down does he get paid more?

I'm not completely familiar myself. My understanding is that teams will be allowed to share a portion of their revenue with their student athletes, but it's capped at like 22% of the the average of P5 schools. So basically there's a "salary cap" for schools that make obscene amounts. The estimated cap in year 1 is somewhere around $20-25mil, and will grow a few percentage points per year the first few years before being reset. Schools will have to share the revenue with ALL athletes, but it's broken down so that certain programs get more funds. I think football will get like 75%, so like $15m to spend if the program is fully funded (meets the cap).

My understanding is that NIL will go back to being paid for services related to using a player's likeness for marketing efforts and such. So a player can still go out and get a deal with the local business to pay them, but gone will be collectives of alumni just giving money to players to come to the school. So it'll be progress in the right direction, but i'm sure still a lot of room for issues.

The revshare program begins July 1st. So until then, a lot of big schools have their collectives going out and saying "Well give you X dollars to come to our school in the spring, and then when revshare begins you'll get that share too" whereas UCF shut down the collective and is just promising revshare for next year.

So I think the thought is if alums donate to the athletic program instead of the collective, they can more readily fund the revshare program. Whereas schools like Ohio State have so much money they can do both until July.

Just wanting to correct some bad info I had that I posted. UCF did not shut down the Kingdom yet. It's still operating and will do so until the end of June when revshare begins (7/1 I believe). It sounds like UCF just announced they were closing it when SJ Touhy left and some bad info circulated about it being shut down early.

The Kingdom is still currently making NIL deals with players though.

The interesting thing for me is when revshare takes over and NIL deals then go through the proposed clearing houses to be vetted for "fair market value", who will be policing these deals? How strict will they be? etc. my guess is it'll still be incredibly flimsy, but probably improve things a little because I believe deals will be public. You'll know when an NIL goes out and spends $1m on a player and what "services" that kid is providing to receive it (being in commercials, making appearances, etc). So the pressure and I think public scrutiny might help make some billionaires a bit more careful about throwing so much cash around. But probably not much, lol.

Been hoping for 3-4 years to get Scott Frost back. I think just on good energy alone there’s a good chance we find past success.

Not expecting any first-year miracles.

Gus never felt right here.

One thing that gives me hope is that ASU was picked to finish last in the conference and is now in the Playoffs, lol. You never know. Get the right mix of players, the right momentum, a little luck, you just never know what might happen.

Might be false hope, but it's still hope :P

This is probably the best hire so far. Clark got a raw deal from App State and is a good football coach.

Feeling a little better these days with the portal acquisitions. Keeping Walker was also huge.

I’ve also been a little surprised at where some of our former guys have ended up. Most lately seem like a downgrade from the big 12.

Wonder how many of the downgrades are a $ situation but i guess playing time matters too

Same. Feel pretty good about our secondary going into the season, and feel better about the OL though we need a few more there. Would like to see another QB, a few WRs, and then some more guys in the trenches and I'll feel pretty damn good.

Dead period ends tomorrow so should start seeing more visits and commits after the new year.

Big basketball win to open conference play on the road vs Texas Tech. Nearly blew an 18 second half lead. Team gets too small when Chiam is on the bench, and he gets in foul trouble frequently. Without him the team struggles to defend the paint or grab boards. I imagine teams will start targeting him.

Move to 10-2 and 1-0 in conference.

Good win last night vs Colorado. Ref tried to gift the Rams the game by ignoring a timeout and enforcing a 5 second out of bounds call with 4 seconds left on the clock. Was ridiculous.

Came up just short in the rematch vs Kansas after that 51 point blowout a few weeks ago. Team played well but couldn't beat Kansas + the refs at the end.

Seriously, not just normal complaining, there were some terribly officiating in the last few minutes and UCF should be filing complaints. it won't do anything, but they owe it to the players to make it known that the officials did a piss poor job.

1st, the foul on Thiam when he made incidental contact to Dickinson going for a rebound when they were both all over each other, Dickinson had Thiam wrapped up, and another player falls on Thiam and knows him to the ground and because Thiam's hand brushes Dickinson's face going up they call him for a foul and then review for a flagrant. Joke.

2nd, the non-call when Hall drove to the basket with a few seconds left and was clobbered and got nothing.

3rd, Darius Johnson knows they're about to foul him when they're up 3, so as he passes halfcourt he senses it, goes to gather and take a shot and they declare it a non-shooting foul. Nonsense. If you're going to let defenses foul to prevent the three, you have to let the offensive player take advantage and call it a shooting foul.

Better yet, I think there should be a rule that if the shot clock is off, and the defensive team up commits a foul beyond the 3 point line, it's automatically 3 FTs. Or 1 FT and the ball. It's a smart play defensively, but it ruins the game. Get it out of the sport. This is true on all levels. It's not a hard thing to eliminate either.

4th, the foul call on Darius Johnson when Kansas was inbounding. It was a weak ass call that prevented them from calling a 5 second violation or trying to make a tough pass to inbound.

This team just lacks size. If we had 1-2 more big men that could help Thiam we'd be a really good team. We knew this would be the case this year when the transfer class was so many guards. Still a good chance to make the tournament if we can pull out one of these upsets and go .500 in conference. Just had some really close tough losses that would've made all the difference. Keep fighting though.

There needs to be some pressure suggested for UCF to sign Banchero's lil bro "Lio" for 2026 football.

Don’t see why a walk on scenario, at a minimum, wouldn’t be possible with his rating.

Well, this UCF Vegas Crown run is a nice little story.

He hasn’t been very kind to us overall calling us, but Gus Johnson losing his **** on that game-tying 3 hit some old 15-year tourney nostalgia.

Yea it was nice for the players to get one last run (at least those that stuck around in Vegas) and to make some cash. Too bad they came up just short of winning the Crown (would've been another $300k for the players to split).

Will be interesting to see of Coach Dawkins is back next year. I'd wager he will be.

I think he’ll be back.

Brutal way to end the tourney though. Even if Darius being hurt, we had that big lead and blew it.

Love what i'm hearing about Frost and recruiting. He might not be bringing in the number of 4-stars Gus was bringing in yet, but I like the actual players he's targeting, and when they commit it seems Frost is really invested in them as opposed to just saying a bunch of stuff to get them in the door. I think he's going after guys that he can (hopefully) get some loyalty with and that want to be here long term instead of looking for the first chance to jump ship for a slightly better pay day. Of course if a big pay bump comes along I won't be surprised (or hold it against them) if some of these guys do jump quickly. But hopefully with Frost going after talented, under the radar guys, and by being vested in them personally he can foster that great team mentality the 2017 squad had where they all were bought in. The atmosphere here during Frost's first run was what really made it special, and if he can recapture that lightning I think it'll only be a matter of time before we're in real contention.

Having said that, i'll be thrilled if we go bowling this year. Bowling is a huge success and bounce back. Anything above that (say 8 wins) would be beyond expectations.
