If you think Masai is trading for Ja then you haven’t been reading between the lines or paying attention to the culture we’ve been trying to build here.

It feels like some people think this is just NBA2K or another simulation, where you can just sit the entire team with no future repurcussions.

We sat Kyle in the Tampa tank. Many teams have done it this season. Find a reason and sit them. You make it sound like teams haven’t done this for decades.

lol yeah for like 7 games not 40+ games like you seem to think we could have done

Yeah, Kyle sat for the final 7 games of that season. We've done significantly more tanking stuff in terms of sitting players, blatantly resting or pulling guys late in games, etc, than we even remotely approached in the Tampa tank.

After the trade deadline he basically sat with fake injuries for most of the season. We also traded Norman who was winning us games for a younger Gary Trent.

Scottie and Poeltl should have missed more games. They were winning us too many games. We did not try hard enough. This team is somewhat deep, they needed to miss more games. It was doable.

Now, you're saying it's "doable" rather than "easily", changing your tune?

How many more games should they have missed and how many extra losses would that have resulted in? You're acting like it would have been easy for us to have an extra 10 losses right now.

We've been going on about how other teams are so bad and we're just too good to tank based on the personnel on the roster. I seriously hope they can prove it next season by actually winning. It would be a nightmare to discover we're just the best of the worst and we still don't have enough juice to be a solid playoff team.

So much depends on Ingram staying healthy and being an impact player again. Without him playing a significant number of games it's basically the same team we trotted out this year minus Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynk, and Chris Boucher as decent veteran bench pieces that actually won us some games. If there are other players missing games as well the record next season might not be much better than this season.

I’m not changing my tone at all….wth? I’m saying they should have and could have done it. They chose to do this half measured approach. We are 6 games behind the Sixers. Off the top of my head, our two wins vs the hawks, the win vs the Celtics, clippers, warriors, we beat Orlando 3 times, there are a few more. These would have been losses had we actually sat more guys and reduced their minutes even further than what we did.

No, you were saying we "easily" could have been top 5. I am totally disagreeing with the notion that it would have been easy even if they pulled out all the stops to tank the entire season.

lol are you really counting one of those Orlando wins where we pulled all the starters in the 4th and needed a Walter buzzer beater to win?

Are we just not supposed to beat any good or mediocre teams the entire year? You do realize even bad teams go on hot streaks and beat teams they shouldn't right?

If we started earlier, the other teams would have just started earlier. We can’t out tank these teams as we saw today

We beat the magic twice, hawks twice, the Celtics, Clippers, this all happened feb onwards. Boucher won us a couple games before the deadline (one vs the warriors if I’m remembering correctly). Not to mention vs all these trash teams down the stretch we kept playing Poeltl and Barnes who are net positives. Stop acting like we didn’t have the 5th pick in the bag to only fumble it.

Yeah exactly. We lost game where other teams sucked even worse than us. Earlier in a post you were talking about how “if we sat this guy we would have lost”. If we’re so bad like you think, should we not have lost to those teams anyway? The way you’re talking isn’t how the NBA works. You’re living in a fantasy land

We didn’t have the 5th pick in the bag because we hadn’t even gotten to the easiest part of our schedule with healthy players.

Stop acting like the first half of the season where we faced the toughest teams in the league and had all our injuries somehow matched us with other teams with significantly worse rosters and real injuries. Stop acting like the 76ers didn’t lose Embiid for basically most of the season and the Pelicans decimated by injuries. Stop acting like the Nets didn’t just have to trade one player away to help their team end up with a starting lineup worse than our bench players.

Things are happing as they should be. If your argument is that we should trade away Barnes, IQ, RJ, Ingram, Poelt to match how bad the other teams are that’s another conversation.

The only reason they have a pick as high as 7th is because they decided to tank or we would be in mid lottery or completely out of the lottery.

Look at it this way, if this team flops next year, I can't imagine Masai surviving it.

So either we get a fresh start with a new FO or a playoff team.

Looking at our franchise history with any GM other than Masai this can get even worse lol.

People don’t know what real pain is yet, especially if they started watching this team in the last 15 years with Masai in charge.

I feel like we’re at baseline a playoff team next year off of adding Ingram and hopefully a more healthier Barnes (never mind the fact that some guys will simply be better next year, hoping Gradey, Jakobe, are two of them). We might get lucky and get an instant impact guy in the lotto if we move up.

People are acting like Philly pulled off some masterclass tank and wanted Embiid to only play 19 games and for George to become the worst contract in the NBA.

I would also make the case that BKN picking 6th with the roster they have is way more disappointing than us picking 7th with the roster we have.

Oh agreed. I just don't think Masai survives the media pressure of this team is another bottom 10 team in the league.

Bruh, we had a stretch this season in January where we went 8 for 2 in a 10 game stretch playing our guys regular minutes. The majority of the teams we beat were good or at a minimum playoff teams. If we actually were serious the tanking should have started before that. We easily could have been a bottom 5 team. We were in great position. We shot ourselves in the foot and reduced our cushion. We were playing our guys regular rotations and clowns on this forum were saying it’s okay we will have plenty of losing and not to worry. It came back to bite us. This was all self inflicted.

Sorry to say but i feel this team is a play in/First round exit type team next year....The only thing that would change that imo is if we move up in the lotto and get Flagg or Harper.....Add another legit impact player while Ingram has his best season as a pro while Barnes takes a leap while we stay pretty healthy....If all them things do not happen we are still team mid....
