Was, and I definitely wanted this to happen. It was going to be inevitable because they weren't going to win this year and decided to cut bait early.

Malone became too dependent on Jokic in recent years and flat out refused to develop the younger players. He literally said that when Jokic goes to the bench to start the 2nd and 4th Q that he "prays."

Not to defend Malone but that bench is not good and their young players are not that promising. Coaches see these guys in camp and practices and form priors that fans never see.

So was Doc fired for farming scoring titles and 2nd round exits?

Probably not but what the hell are they thinking right before the playoffs.

I believe the Magic have their pick for this year's draft.

I’m not sure why people think this will negatively impact the Nuggets in the post season. Adelman is a Malone disciple, he can run everything the exact same as they have been for the last decade. The timing is meant to be a kick in the pants to the players, most of whom in the core have only ever had Malone as their coach their entire careers.

Ahh, if true, a total disaster for Denver.

Why is it always people who aren't a fan of the team that say things like this?

Literally ever Nuggets fan i've seen on this forum wants him gone. Jokic can only save him for so long.

Have you seen a person on this board who doesn't want their coach fired  :banghead: He just won a championship less than two years ago, truly must be awful.

Yeah for real. I mean he got a little annoying last year like the nuggets were a new juggernaut, but 2 years after a title is already insane enough but not even giving the guy a playoff run just to see what happens is even more insane, since this presumably means you're just punting on a prime jokic playoff.

Particularly when they won you a f*cking championship, very recently.

Nuggets success starts and ends with jokic. Malone was just ririding the gravy train

Hard time seeing they didn't consult Jokic before doing this.

Owner Stanley Kroenke decided to do something bold for once. In the future, I expect him to pay closer attention to where his money is going.

Jokic and Murray will make roughly $105m combined next season.

MPJ, 38m, and only averages 13 field goal attempts per game.

Aaron Gordon is reasonable at $22m next season, but once he makes $31-$37m, he's an overpay.

A team won't be successful in the playoffs with 5 players averaging double digits. Four is a max. Denver should have Jokic, MPJ, Murray to average double digit shot attempts and if they want a forth it needs to be Christian Braun. Subtract 5 attempts from Russ.

Why does every coach that wins a title get fired within the next few seasons.

Guessing Murray is out for the remainder of the season, no idea why else they'd punt with 4 games left...

Yeah, I view him as above average but with major flaws that make me glad he's gone.
