NBA teams are way too quick to fire coaches who have led them to a title. Insane
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

I absolutely can not fathom why you wouldn't wait a few weeks. If you're convinced the coach is this unimportant, why even have one?

I've never been super high on low on Malone, but from afar, he definitely seemed far down the list issues with that team/org.

So when does the media start with the "When will Jokic demand out?"

Or does that only work for Giannis?

I don’t think Malone is a tier ahead of Doc to be honest.

He is, but that's because Doc is a bottom tier coach at this point. Dude has no interest in anything besides the paycheck and the status of being a coach.

Denver looking for a new GM and Coach this offseason will make it tougher for us if we all get what we want.

Denver has a younger team with more future assets. I’d think the top GM or Coach would probably want to go there.

With that said, there’s probably more low hanging fruit with us to see a quicker turnaround.

It's also a significantly larger city/metro, better climate etc.

I wouldn't go that far, but I'm not convinced Malone is the top-tier that many think he is.

Would still trip over myself to hire him, though.

I just think he’s become such a product of Jokic. Aaron Gordon is vastly underutilized in that offense.

I'd have Malone below Jenkins for sure, but Malone is still a good coach that I'd confidently put in the top half. The question would be how much of the offense he ran was due to Jokic (they've been dead last in 3PT attempts in both seasons since the championship), and conversely, how much of the defensive struggles/scheme failings were due to, well.....Jokic.

I just don't get firing coaches this late into the season unless something really bad is going on behind closed doors.

Yea I went looking, Denver board here is non existent. But Den fans chiming in on main board have made comments along the lines that Jokic has basically quit on the team the last chunk of games as they've been losing. So who knows, but a lost locker room and/or Jokic clearly pushing for it seem to be the case.

wtf...

only thing i can think of is are they trying to hire the former Memphis coach or something? to me, you only do this if you have a pretty good idea of who the next guy is and you want to start the process asap. baffling.

Calvin Booth did that interview with KOC for the ringer before last season where he was pretty full of himself and talked up how good his young depth was only for them to do nothing for two years haha.

Malone can be an arsehole but definitely didn’t expect this a week out from the playoffs. Weird timing again by a team.

That we weren’t the team to fire anyone weeks out from the playoffs is honestly a bit surprising.
