Gonna be must win games to the end of the season. 1.5 games between 3 and 8 with a week to go is wild.

Wild, indeed. A random loss could send any team to the play-in. Could easily come down to that last game against the Clippers.

I remember when the Butler trade was made, the talk was that 48 wins should keep a team out of the play in. It's looking like 50 wins now. It's very possible that a team with 49 wins will be in the play-in.

2007-8. 48 wins = 9th spot.

Yeah, that year was tough considering the We Believe team got in as the 8th seed with 42 wins the year before.

If there were a play in back then, the 7th and 8th seed would have been in with 51 and 50 wins.

With the loss to the Rockets, 7th seed seems the most likely outcome unless they somehow can beat the Clippers (0-3 so far). Oh sure, Butler is now on the Warriors, but Kawhi did not play in any of the three previous games vs the Warriors.

I don't know, I think they still have a good shot at #6. They own the tiebreakers over MIN and MEM and those guys could still well lose a game or two (for one thing, they play each other, so that's 1 loss for 1 of them). But obviously they can't give away any of the next 3 games and have to fight like hell against LAC in the final game. Essentially, that last game against LAC could be their play-in game, only with a lot more rest afterwards if they win. If they are serious about making a run, they're going to have to figure out how to beat tough matchups like LAC anyway (they already did so recently with LAL and DEN).

A first-round matchup with the Lakers doesn't sound great, but they'd be rested and it might be better than facing the young, physical Rockets team that just shut down Steph, and on short rest after a play-in (if they even get through it).

Memphis plays Den & Minny meaning two teams of those 3 are getting a loss or Memphis takes 2 losses. Denver also plays Hou (and just fired Malone) while Minny play Mil. There's a decent chance we're no lower than 6th going into the clipper game IF we win the next 3.

They're in 6th now, so if they win the next 3 they'll definitely be no lower than 6th.

I meant to say they'll be locked into 6th even if they lose to LAC on Sun, IF they win all 3. I realize I phrased it very poorly in the original post

I also phrased it poorly. I meant to say they would be no lower going into the Clipper game. They could slip from 6th if either Memphis or Minny win all 4 and they lose to the Clippers. The only way they can be sure of 6th is if they win all 4. (I think we've got it right now. :-? )

the only tie breaker we are holding is Wolves and Grizz. so we want Wolves to beat Grizz and they will all by 49 wins. We will be 6th even losing to clips last game.

4th we need to win all 3 games and DEN needs to lose one game
5th we need to win all 3 games and DEN wins all 3 games
5th we lose to LAC and MEM wins against DEN, but lose to MIN
6th we lose to LAC and MEM wins agaisnt MIN, but lose to DEN
6th we lose to LAC and MEM lose to DEN and MIN
7th we lose to LAC and MEM wins against MIN and DEN

I dont expect nothing from SAC or HOU. HOU put already Sengun/Smith/VanVleet as questionables with LAC.

If we win all 3 games

4th GSW - 5th MEM (if MEM wins all 3 games)
4th GSW - 5th LAC (if MEM wins against DEN, but lose to MIN)
4th GSW - 5th MIN (if MIN wins all 3 games and MEM wins against DEN)
5th GSW - 4th DEN (if DEN wins all 3 games)

If we lose to LAC

5th GSW - 4th MEM (if MEM wins all 3 games)
6th GSW - 3rd LAL (MEM wins agaisnt MIN, but lose to DEN) or (MEM lose to DEN and MIN)
7th GSW - Playin with 8th MIN (MEM wins against MIN and DEN)

So 3 games left and all options are open. We can play in 1st rnd against OKC/HOU/LAL/MEM/DEN/LAC/MIN and miss PO if lose to SAC/DAL/PHO

Rox clinched #2. I hope they hate the Clippers and drill them, before they rest guys.

Someone is going to have 50 wins and “miss the playoffs”, this play-in **** has to stop

Nah, every team on the cusp has had plenty of chances to not put themselves in that situation. I'm not really against league-wide seedings but the travel would be worse. But even with that, the first round matchup (as of today) would be LAL-GS 7-10.
