Do people really believe jokic isn't surrounded with talent?

Not very reliable talent... Jamal is injured again with playoffs around the corner

With that narrative I like the move.

We've all dealt with bickering people in the workplace, if you could expel both sides than any of us would pull that trigger.

To be honest it feels like this is the entirety of it. Ownership can deal with it when your winning, but if you're not winning, or at the very least an inconsistent team that is continually trending in the wrong direction, just cut bait of that cancerous relationship and try and salvage what they can of this season.

Like the ultimate omen of dysfunction. Not his fault but Westbrook is such a huge coaching catch 22. He's such a huge coaching trust commitment. If Malone had benched him in those last few minutes of the Minny and Spurs game he might have just made it long enough to the postseason. God forbid you see the light and bench him but still lose, then there's a small subsection waiting to tear that decision.

More in that group? They're 4TH in a brutal west. If you like that group and think more can be accomplished - highly debatable, but ok, let's follow the thought - then why get rid of Booth? Because he **** you over with big contracts and no picks and iffy drafting. So then how did you end up with Booth? Ah. There's the rub. Who let Connelly walk? Hmm...

You should be happy. The spurs got their next head coach after pop. I can see Malone coaching the spurs next season to be honest

Bottom line is Malone probably lost his job because of Jokic. I don't mean because Jokic did anything but because obviously having a player of Jokic's greatness has made ownership have unrealistic expectations. We saw this happen in LAL and PHX with Vogel, Ham in LAL, Bud in Mil. Nowadays when franchises have a player(or players) who are among the elite or top 10 players in the league these modern owners will not tolerate more than two years of mediocrity, which to them is not contending for a title. What these owners don't realize is yes you can have an elite player and maybe even two but that doesn't guarantee or mean the team has a birthright to contend every year or win a title. It never has been and now especially more than ever with all the parity in the league and all of the new salary restrictions. There are just too many variables and things that can happen that are out of a team's control. Modern owners are probably even more impatient because of the salaries they're doling out to their top 1 or 2 players so they look at that as well and feel they should be getting their money's worth every year.

PlatinumState wrote:Was Phil Jackson ever hard on MJ, Kobe, Shaq? Of course not. You cant be hard on you superstar players. People buy tickets to see the stars not the coaches

MJ probably not but Shaq has said that Phil would get on him(said as much tonight on Inside the NBA) and Phil and Kobe during his first Lakers coaching run had a lot tension(Phil says as much in one of his books) and it wasn't until the 2nd run that it really improved. What it was with Phil is that he had a way of getting on Shaq and Kobe without yelling his lungs out and getting in their face but he always held them accountable.

Now as far as modern times no coach can probably be hard on their stars except Spoelstra and that's purely because Riley and Arison have his back at all times. With so few coaches having multiple rings anymore there may be not be any coaches much longer who can command the respect and humble an elite player from the day he steps foot into the league. Multiple rings nowadays are the only things in a resume that will get guys to shut up and listen and sometimes that doesn't even work(see Butler & Draymond).

Well Pop has been on year to year since at least 2018 if not earlier, is by many accounts looking great, and has stated directly that he wants to come back to coach for at least next season (he's in the midst of a five-year contract). So our situation is as good as it can be - generational megastar, 1A star, a stockpile of picks, great cap management, and plans for a new arena - and it will have to be waited for.

As for Nuggets, I like and respect Malone. I think he was pushed onto the rails here. I hope the intended jolt has its effect for the current roster, but Booth has put the team in a tight spot. The roster talent is what it is. The cap and picks situations are what they are. There may be a honeymoon boost but Kroenke must see something with this roster others don't so we'll see. I think this shields him from letting Connelly go and from the Booth takeover/long known clashing with Malone which should have been dealt with at the onset.

It's a team that must align its assets and direction quickly so as to assuage Jokic. Good luck.

The Nuggets did Malone dirty. Booth did a poor job regardless, he deserved the Boot. This will bite them in the ass. Jokic is a super loyal guy, but I highly doubt he’s on board with this.

At this point. If you're an NBA coach and you haven't gotten fired that means you're not doing something right lol

Pesic? I believe Kokoskov is an assistant with the Hawks now, maybe they can pry him away?

Kokoskov hasnt accomplished anything and Pesic is not suited for NBA. He might make NBA players cry and quite the team.

I'm not sure it was Booths fault.

He put together the championship team and paid them. Ownership are on the cheap side so he had to keep getting younger.

I mean.. they overpaid MPJ and Murray. They only didn’t pay KCP and Brown right? Both went on to get much bigger contracts than their current play warrants.

They didnt even kept justin holiday who at least could shoot a 3 and play some defense, and instead Malone is forced to play Hunter Tyson, clearly a G-league player or short rotation and put everything on 8 guys.... and then HE gets fired.... bull
