No, I don't think you get it, it's literally too late in the sense that it's mathematically impossible to pass them in the tank standings.

If PHX loses another game, they are mathematically out of the play-in and the Mavs clinch a play-in spot. PHX plays OKC tonight so they likely lose.

Mavs may not be as competitive against the Raps if they already secured a play-in spot. Hopefully that's not the case though.

You're correct, it's not impossible, just highly improbable that we lose the next 3 while the Nets win the next 3.

The Toronto Raptors are 29-50 with 1 home game (vs Charlotte) and 2 road games (@Dallas and @San Antonio) left to finish out the season.
The San Antonio Spurs are 32-47 with 1 home game (vs Toronto) and 2 road games (@Golden State, @Phoenix) left to finish out the season.

At this point, we cannot pass them in the draft lottery standings.

The worst we can do is to be tied with them at the end of the season and the only way that happens is if the Raptors win all of their remaining games and the Spurs lose all of theirs.

In all other scenarios, the Raptors will finish the season with a worse record than the Spurs and secure the 7th best draft odds.

While it's possible for the Raptors and Spurs to end up with the same record by the end of the season, it's not very likely when you consider they are going to play a team (Phoenix) on an 8 game losing streak after they lose to OKC tonight and the final game of the season will be played on their court - giving their players more motivation than ours to finish the season with a win in front of their home crowd.

Yeah but we could have just forfeited instead, fake a bunch of injuries in game and get down to only 4 players left.
