Interesting both played 4 years in college, good passers, but Green is so much better in defense, he communicates well. While Mogbo has the tools to be good on defense, I've seen times he's lost on defense.

NBA players vs Mogbo this season had only a 54.7 TS%. Mogbo is already a guy who can lockdown most spots on the floor, including guards.

But ya, Draymond is a dominant team defender and DPOY caliber player, which along with his passing, makes him great. Mogbo will need to take big steps as a team defender to get to that level. But if he can be a Draymond-lite off the bench, that would be a big win.

It's not that they can't get better, it's that for the player to have become a senior, they were probably not an obvious top prospect to begin with. For many stars, it was clear they were going to be pros even in high school.

Indeed, the high potential athletes were drafted in their first or second year, leaving only a few seniors being obvious top prospects.
As a result, as you said, not many stars from senior.

There are seniors being super stars, but more because they don't declare earlier.
Tim Duncan stayed for 4 years. Vince Carter stayed for 3 years. Those would be a top pick in their early years as well.

I really like Mogbo but I'm a little worried about the touch....if he can just get better at layups and some little push shots around the cup I think we really have something. I'm hoping it's a confidence thing rather than touch as he seems to really rush things inside.

Something to keep in mind is Mogbo played virtually every position this season. Jumbo Wing, Small Ball 5 and now getting some PG reps too. That's a lot on the plate for a rookie to handle. The scoring touch needs to get better but it's encouraging that he's at least being aggressive now and taking shots whereas for most of the year he would keep passing them up and hesitant to try and score. Despite the age, there's still a lot of untapped potential with his game IMO.

And I think something that people are forgetting is that he'll be on the same team, for the second straight year.

The last time that happened, might have been high school.

Mogob will turn out just fine, I think. I like that we have him on our roster and what he brings to the table (which is a lot).

Kid was already a lockdown defender, but this passing the past couple games has been something else.

If he can be a lockdown defender with legit passing skills, that's a super rare archetype, and a guy every winning team needs.

lot of things to like but his touch around the basket is still pretty rough. that will most likely determine the number of minutes he ends up getting next year. if he can finish within 5 feet then he's a 25 min a night player.

Remember all these kids drafted the last few years were impacted by covid so their development timelines were all thrown upside down

His 3pt stroke is good, release no hitch. Runs the floor well and good vision for passing.

Would like see Mogbo have that edge Draymond and Brooks have personality on defense

Getting a triple-double in a NBA game as a rook, even if it is April basketball is not nothing. Two-way players like Mogbo are what the 'We The North' era was built upon. Excited to see what he can offer next season with this confidence and another summer of being able to work further on his game.

The defense is already there. I remember he had some really nice reps against Shai. But yeah, the swing will be his offense and if he can become better at-the-rim and nail his 3s. If he can, that's a valuable versatile bench piece that shift up or down defensively depending on the match-up.

Let's not forget the most important thing that makes Draymond Draymond, something that Mogbo doesn't seem to have, or atleast hasn't shown yet...that dog. This comparison seems kind of pointless because Drays numbers are not really what makes him great, he plays with tenacity, Mogbos biggest critique seems to be that he does not

That was also Draymond's second season in the league which is significant.

He really needs to become a serviceable 3pt shooter. His ceiling is a smarter precious which can be useful off the bench. Draymond is not a realistic comparison

Achiuwa is a 6/5 guy on 53 TS%, Mogbo is already producing basically at that level right now. How much better is a smarter Achiuwa than that?

Happy for him as he looks productive. But, the plan was for him to develop as a wing, and he is mostly playing center like he did in college. He is good at it, but he is making hay against other smaller players. If he matches up with true Cs or anyone even 6'9 or bigger, he is going to be overpowered.

I will say he is fun like Kenneth Faried was and the passing is nice. HIs post-up game needs a lot of work as does his jumper which has some seriously wide misses.

Return to Toronto Raptors
