Getting PRP injections are to manage things like arthritis and I bet he is having Achilles soreness. Why did we sign up for this?

Sounds like you know a bit about PRP. I don’t know anything really. Can you elaborate please?

Given that he likely had this issue for a while - by that I mean it predates his time with the Raptors - I like that we are focusing on Ingram’s recovery.

I’m not Doctor, I just play one on tv but from what I remember PRP has been associated with degenerative issues. For example Joel Embiid got one in his knee in 2023 and we all know how things are going with him two years later. But again it could just be for another reason

Did a quick google. Seems it's a non-surgical/non-steroidal alternative therapy. Basically, it's an excuse to keep him out for the last few games of the season because he can't do strenuous physical activity for 24-48 hours, and then after that it's a slower return to use. That only applies in the affected area (ankle) so he can probably do a bunch of other stuff.

Didn't find anything on degenerative issues. That makes sense because you're being injected with your own blood platelets. The one that screwed a bunch of athletes (Penny Hardaway, Greg Oden) was microfracture surgery.
I believe in Masai.

I had an injection related to this in my knees to reduce inflammation related to osteoarthritis. It would make sense that the PRP is for his ankle(s) which must be bothering him after training (flare-ups). I remember even Kobe Bryant had a PRP in his knee, and PRP is one option, but I wonder if this is a last step before actual surgery.

Generally, I think this is for people suffering chronic pain and swelling which would not be good for your well-paid star player.

I am actually fine now and have full mobility no issues. I also no longer play basketball and do more low impact workouts.

At the very least he’s still in some pain/discomfort. But 5-6 months is still a ways to go, hope he’s ready by then and we get at least 60 games from him. We should have enough depth at the guard spots to cover him just need him ready for playoffs.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.
