Im nowhere near as high as AB as most fans but Ab as a whole doesn't suck, AB the POINT GUARD is the one that sucks. This coaching staff keeps forcing him to evolve into an NBA PG when he lacks 99% of the skills of current era PG. AB is a 3D/wing in the NBA. Sooner we accept that the sooner he will be more productive.

Alternate shooting guard worse shooter then kcp but potentially better defender. Some of this is semantics. But between KCP / Suggs / Black / Harris you have the same player skill set at their peak.

And I tire of it.

Between all those players. Suggs is hands down current best. Black IMHO still has the upside. It could take another 2-4 years. But if Black never increased from here he would still be a net positive player in the NBA. Just my humble opinion.

I'd differentiate them as:

All-around guards: Suggs and AB
Spot-up shooters: KCP and Gary

Suggs and AB aren't primary playmakers right now, they are more traditional combo guards with defense. White and Jrue are the ideal state here.

I went. Paul Porter deserves better.

I wouldn’t take much from this game.
Wendell and KCP both got hurt, sit them both until Tuesday.
Paolo was double/triple teamed.
Our bench did its job.

Agreed, that looked like a very tepid honoring of Paul Porter. This franchise is so damm lame. They give a guy that’s missed half his games a 5 year deal because he fits their political affiliation yet give a very tepid farewell to the booming and iconic voice of the team for its entire existence…a standing ovation and a jersey is not a good farewell…they honored Dwight only after it was clear he was in the precipice of being elected to the hall of fame so they wouldn’t look bad…MLM clowns….

Anthony Black is the KCP replacement. KCP contract structure to exp when Black is due for his. If AB cant show the same or more value then KCP (not hard) by end of year 4, we gotta move on. Id still trade him now for upgrade backcourt player but this front office loves him for some reason.

Nick could’ve easily put up 20+ every night on another team. He was the Franz, supremely talented, maybe the most “complete” player on that star-studded lineup - but somewhat in the shadow of Shaq & Penny…I remember post-Shaq, it’s Penny’s team…Penny goes out with injury and Nick steps right into the spotlight and scores like Paolo, inside & outside, every night despite the defensive focus.

Maybe not quite like Paolo because Brian Hill actually ran offensive sets.

I LOVE AB as a KCP who can also run some point...he's getting much more confident letting it fly and that's critical...We need a guy who will put up 7 3pt attempts every night and, hopefully, average 38% or more. 2 of those guys would be even better. AB is inexpensive, very big positionally, and plays great D. I'll still protest the concept that he's about to be our starting PG anytime soon...but the player we are watching him become is valuable. KCP makes TOO much money and we have guys that can do what he does...not even counting Suggs, who (last season at least) was a better KCP than KCP ever was. Suggs' deal is actually pretty good given it's descending nature but he might be the only high-salary trade chip we have - especially with AB showing us he can take on a bigger role that is presently occupied by Suggs and KCP on much higher salaries.

Suggs for a scoring stud PG...then AB & Caleb growing into bigger shooting roles might be the best direction. I also might be more concerned about Suggs' knee than others here.

He was hurt in ‘96, ‘97, and ‘99.
He picked up the slack when Penny was hurt. He hit the winner to beat Shaq in his first return to Orlando.
