You can't hide Deuce and Brunson. Cade was cooking evwrybody down low. And then whoever was left had to deal with Harris 6'8 and Thomson 6'6. With 6'6 Beasley coming in.JayTWill wrote:prophet_of_rage wrote:Your back court would be 6 feet tall. I'm not sure we can make that assessment off of one game where the Knicks were missing 3 rotation players. I don't know what swapping Hart for Deuce would have accomplished tonight. If Thibs asked Hart to guard Cade all night i'm not sure he would have had better success and it probably would have taken away from his limited offense if he had to. Just having OG alone could have made a big difference against someone like Cade.
Brunson/Mikal/Hart/Precious/KAT with Tucker/Wright/Shamet/Payne off the bench may not have gone well either.

But Thibs wouldn't put Hart on Cade. Mikal guarded Cade most of the time this year. Hart spent most of the last Pistons game guarding a limited offensive threat in Ausur Thompson and other off-ball players. Thibs tries to hide Hart off the ball defensively as much as possible. He could have attempted the same thing with Deuce this game but he chose not to.
Every time Cade got off the bench, Deuce got off the bench. That is the role Mikal has had much of the year. Thibs would never put Hart in that position. Cade would have had a length and also a quickness advantage over Hart too.
Yea Donte was a real one apart from pulling up from 30 with zero fear and electrifying dunks what I miss most Ragu didn't take no schit from anyone Even guys twice his size.Adelheid wrote:TheGreenArrow wrote:?s=46&t=W09F6FrMDfp5_y1gKYgF1g

What happened to Deuce?
He used to have a great shot.
Answer. Thibs

The last time? Maybe the 89-90 Pistons? But Dumars was 6'4 not 6'1.HEZI wrote:prophet_of_rage wrote:You can't hide Deuce and Brunson. Cade was cooking evwrybody down low. And then whoever was left had to deal with Harris 6'8 and Thomson 6'6. With 6'6 Beasley coming in.JayTWill wrote:

When is the last time an undersized backcourt like that worked? The roster will will leave you fixing one issue and creating another no matter how much you try

Spree2Houston wrote:My 3 Main Concerns with the Team
!) Insufficient Shot Volume: Despite being one of the league's top shooting teams in both three-point percentage and two-point percentage, we rank near the bottom in pace. This disconnect is glaring. In the game against Boston, we hit more shots but still lost. The argument often made is that we need to take more three-pointers, but I don't think simply increasing three-point attempts would address the underlying issue. It's like trading 10 easy layups (worth 20 points) for 10 three-point attempts, where we might make 4 of them (yielding 12 points), it doesn't add up in our favor. What we should be doing is increasing our overall shot volume during games. By getting more attempts up, we alleviate the pressure of lacking a secondary creator, and capitalize on opportunities before the defense is fully set.
2) Failure to Defend the Three: Our defensive strategy against the three-pointer is stupid. Thibs seems reluctant to prioritize defending the perimeter. While our defensive metrics sometimes look good, we often lose games because opponents hit significantly more threes than we do. The core issue here isn't just the percentage opponents shoot but the sheer number of attempts they get. Even if they shoot poorly, their higher pace allows them to hit enough threes to tip the game in their favor. This disparity in pace and shot volume ultimately undermines whatever great shooting nights we could have.
3) We're soft.

100%. No true contender would duck anyone.
Frankly I think the chances of this team losing in Round 1 are higher than I'd like to admit. Detroit is not scared of this team, they play like goons, and they play super physical/have depth.
Cade was hunting for food last night and Tom had no answer. Karl didn't look like he wanted any smoke. Not good.
I'm probably overreacting but I have serious concerns....these guys aren't ready.

A back to back game. No OG. No Mitch. No Hart. Thibs field a lineup at one point you won't ever see again. Knicks should have won, but it seems to me they were experimenting to some degree. The game meant more to Detroit then it did to the Knicks. It'll be an interesting weekend with Bucks/Pistons back-to-back.
