This is weak af and embarrassing if true.

KAT is defensively is a PF to me, Mitch is the guy who anchors and works better at the 5 in Tom's scheme.

Mitch/KAT/OG/Bridges/Brunson should be the play. If I'm gonna have a non shooter out there, let it be Mitch who defends and is a threat to finish.

Absolutely. This has nothing to do with Randle…

Im cool with tanking for talent. Tanking to duck a team - that's bįtch sht. I cant respect it.

I believe the argument was it would provide better spacing. Swapping OG with Precious kind of prevented the opportunity to see if it made a difference but lets come to a conclusion after 1 game missing 3 rotation players and other key players getting limited minutes. :D

I cant believe we let Schroeder stand over Brunson like that.

Precious needs to be cut and everyone else on the floor disgust me.

Im disgusted and embarrassed.

Shameful display from our team.

KAT is the better talent though and Mitch was not available to start the season, and the only other bigs were Sims and Huk.

I don't disagree that KAT should not be anchoring the defense but I don't think trading Randle for him was a bad move at all. But Tom continuing to play him at the 5 and in drop is just asinine.

pj out here calling the team soft now....sad

They just out-toughed us. They did. The whole fourth quarter,” said PJ Tucker, the veteran who received rotation minutes for the first time this season. “We kept it close but they just out-toughed us. That’s something we got to address. Obviously, not having OG [Anunoby], not having Josh [Hart], getting those guys back will help a lot.

“I just feel like down in the trenches like that in the playoffs this year, they’re not calling nothing. They’re letting a lot of stuff go right now and I like it. The refs are letting a lot of stuff go both ways. With that happening, guys got to play differently. We got to play different. We got to toughen up. It’s more physical. We got to toughen up.

also, kat was doing things like blocking out for mitch. he may suck at defense, but he puts in a more consistent effort than randle. having those two 7 footers down low is a totally different presence than mitch/randle gave us. i hoped kat at c would suffice, but i'm all in on the twin towers at this point

Yeah idk about KAT giving effort. Too many times he is ball watching and does the laziest close outs ever. Thats why he’s literally graded at the bottom of centers on defense on metrics. We never had that problem before.

like i said, he sucks (feet and awareness) but he does give effort. that's why he makes so many stupid defensive fouls. if i didn't compare the effort level to randle's you would have let it rock  but i'm saying if your starting PF is gonna suck at defense (whether due to ability like kat or due to feeling exempt from it like randle) him being 7 ft down low just makes mitch's job much easier than 6'9 does

can you blame thibs for the team lacking toughness this year though ? when has a thibs team ever been soft ? it's always been the opposite in his career

But Thibs wouldn't put Hart on Cade. Mikal guarded Cade most of the time this year. Hart spent most of the last Pistons game guarding a limited offensive threat in Ausur Thompson and other off-ball players. Thibs tries to hide Hart off the ball defensively as much as possible. He could have attempted the same thing with Deuce this game but he chose not to.

Every time Cade got off the bench, Deuce got off the bench. That is the role Mikal has had much of the year. Thibs would never put Hart in that position. Cade would have had a length and also a quickness advantage over Hart too.
You can't hide Deuce and Brunson. Cade was cooking evwrybody down low. And then whoever was left had to deal with Harris 6'8 and Thomson 6'6. With 6'6 Beasley coming in.

Cade went to work on McBride last night. Tatum went to work on Mikal the game before. Booker went to work on OG the game before that. What you won't see is a player going to work on Hart or Brunson very often because Thibs tries to hide them as much as possible off ball although it does feel like he has taken some of the defensive responsibility off of Mikal in the last month or so which may be part of the reason we saw Deuce on Cade all game instead of Mikal. If Thibs did put Hart on Cade, Tatum or Booker I have a strong feeling they would have went to work on him too.

I'm not a fan of undersized backcourts and was one of the few people that thought Grimes should have been placed back in the starting lineup in last January in place of DDV since I thought Grimes was a much better defensive backcourt pairing with Brunson and DDV offense and experience could have been used on the bench. I still wanted a bigger, stronger more versatile defender to pair with Brunson. Deuce is far from my ideal backcourt pairing with Brunson but Hart isn't either. He has plenty of his own defensive issues this year.

https://www.pbpstats.com/wowy-combos/nba?TeamId=1610612752&Season=2024-25&SeasonType=Regular%2BSeason&PlayerIds=1628404&OnlyCommonGames=true

There is no indication that Hart is better defensively for the team especially when paired with Brunson. Hart is stronger but incredibly undersized also with other defensive limitations.
I'm afraid I have quite no idea what you are arguing. My position is simply Deuce is too small to be paired in the backcoirt with Brunson.

Is it your position that the Knicka backcourt players are all small and defensively poor?
