OO is too short at 6-10 (maybe 6-9) and JJ is too light to fight other PFs. However, they are the best bigs we have in the roster unless we sign a heavier PF and/or a taller C. Niang is a much heavier PF (much heavier that desired).
We could then have OO playing PF for some periods, as well as JJ playing some SF.

That is the only way I can think of to minimize this problems.

I do think we're a solid front court acquisition away from being in a much better position.

Donovan Clingan or Kel'el Ware in last year's draft shore up a lot of size concerns.

Asa Newell, Thomas Sorber or Danny Wolf in this year's draft class shore up a lot of size concerns.

Even a high level backup Center like Goga Bitadze eliminates a ton of front court depth issues.

NOTE: Brook Lopez is likely the ideal target.

You are probably right, but the player that can fit with the players we already have is difficult to find. This last game OO played an incredible game, but he still is too short to impose his law. If we find a big 5, then OO is going to see his minutes reduced to 22/24. If we find an athletic 4, then JJ and Gueye will see far less minutes.
But probably someone like Edey last year or Duke's center this year would do wonders for us.

Yeah, and those limitations are why I suspect Hawks will listen to trade offers for Okongwu...and Jalen Johnson. :o

There is another option. If Hawks can find a 7 footer who can space the floor and protect the rim, that play could - theoretically - play minutes beside either of JJ or OO.

Guys like Brook Lopez (old), Myles Turner (soft), Lauri Markkanen (not a Center), Danny Wolf (inexperienced) come to mind.

i.e. there are no perfect options there.

Team stats do not completely show how well we have played lately and it is sad that the number of wins does not reflect the level of play we have offered and the options this group has.
We play in the way modern basketball trends dictate.

Hawks Player Development Program deserves some serious credit.

Glad we ended the season strong...but it's clear a full third of the NBA was tanking during this 15 game sample.
