Morant + for Sabonis+

Post#1 » by Astaluego » Thu Apr 10, 2025 11:03 am

Morant/Konchar/Clarke for Sabonis/Monk

Grizzlies probably tired of the Ja Morant roller coaster.. they get an allstar who is a consummate professional, always in shape and consistently available that would form a very complementary and super elite front court alongside JJJ.. I personally think that a basketball player as complete as Domantas would fit very very well in the new offensive flow of the GRIZZLIES.. they also get Monk who has good chemistry with Sabonis..

Monk/Bane/Wells/JJJ/Sabonis
Pippen/Vince/GG Jackson/*Aldama/Edey

The GRIZZLIES get the most differential player with the highest ceiling (partly anticipating rumors that Sabonis might consider a trade)...
It would probably require some extra movement to get a starting caliber center.(DDR for Gafford/Martín?)

Check guys the 1st season stats of Edey vs Sabonis (or 2nd). Nothing really to discuss here from the Memphis perspective. Edey just made back-to-back 20+ rbs. The last one was Shaq.

And Ja is beloved in Memphis like very few other superstars in their cities. If any.

I get it and don't really see this as a framework for a deal, but also Sabonis was 2nd in 6MOY voting at the same age as Edey. Just putting that out there.

I don’t question the elite level of Sabonis in any regard. I just pointed out that Edey has been progressing toward some level of eliteness, too. Which makes the OP idea less viable, to put it mildly.

I like edey, but progression isn't always linear.

That said I agree the frame work doesn't make sense and edey has been good enough that you don't want to revert him to a 10mpg guy off the bench.

That said if Memphis gets bounced in the first round again, it seems some roster changes are probably in order. Maybe that isn't morant, but who knows maybe best to get in front of it before too late

I don't think this is true about the roster changes. I think it is clear they are going with the coach change route 1st next season to see if a new voice can get the best out of this roster. I think after next season if we are not getting the results we want then that is when a possible big roster change happens. I think if the right trade comes along now then sure we make a move now, but I don't think we are at the point where we feel we have to just make a big move now.

You’ve posted this before

Morant is Fox 2.0 - inefficient, non spacing non plus d guard

It’s sizzle no steak

Would’ve fought to keep Fox harder if this was the way

Lavine is your guys level. So happy for you. There is certainly no place for such a mediocre player and person like Ja. Long live the Kings! (hopefully without LRV and Sabs soon)

What troll response that has nothing to do with the trade is this?

Lavine is a better player than Ja though. He’s at least uber efficient

That’s exactly why I am very happy for the Kings. West is already packed as hell.

This is a guy who thinks low motor one dimensional players like Murray, who the team looks better without, are anything more than role players. Like no offense, Keon who you can get a facsimile out of the g league.

They aren't anything of the needle movers compared to the big three

And Fox was nothing, inefficient non spacing non defensive guard, like Ja. Lavine at least puts it up at one end

Why would the kings do this? We give up the more valuable players for Ja and you explain in your explanation exactly why the kings shouldn't be interested at all.

Why?

Why would the kings do this? It doesn't make them better, doesn't improve the locker room, doesn't give us more trade value. Why?

Zach is good at scoring on volume efficiently... 64% TS is efficient volume scoring for his position. what part of the game does Ja excel at?
