The only thing he does throughout the game is match starters vs starters and bench players vs bench players.

It's because everyone was knew their roles by the time Julius was injured. The offense would go through Julius for the 1st three quarters on catch and shoot attempts, and Jalen would be the closer.
This season everyone is deferring to Jalen when KAT should be the #1 option and playing the same role as Julius, then let Jalen be the closer in the 4th quarter.
JB was a lot better and faster last year. He can barely blow by anyone now
I have been very critical of this team but this comment is full of **** and lacks zero nuance.
He had no problems blowing by people pre-ankle injury. He was playing at a 2nd all nba team level before that Lakers game.
He has not looked the same since coming back.
i will say i disagree based on the eye test. i know his stats were more than fine - but last year it felt like he could get to whatever spot in the paint he wanted and then go to his package of pump fakes, pivots, etc or just hit the floater. his mid range felt unstoppable last year.
this year i think a big adjustment teams copied from the playoffs was putting a bigger wing on him. he can still "blow by" guys but from there it's usually reckless layup attempts (trying to draw a foul) or he keeps his dribble and aborts any attack or looks to kick it out etc.
last season he felt more in control. maybe the league still didn't have the full scouting report on him, maybe he was healthier. i don't know. but even pre-injury this season i felt like he didn't look the same or been as good as last year - especially last year post randle injury when he carried.

I hope the fans are ready to watch Detroit run pick and rolls against KAT and Brunson until Mitchell Robinson enters the game.

thats not true though...mobley was out there with the Cavs bench so they had a go to option when Garland was sitting.
to not have one of Brunson/Mikal/OG out there to run any offense through is criminal

I’ve been saying it since he was signed… he’s a great player to have on the bench when you’re down 20 and playing with no energy. You can bring him in and he’ll play with so much energy that will either lead you into a comeback with his ridiculous shots or he’ll just dig you deeper into the hole you’re already in.
He’s not a guy that you can trust night in and night out. His energy and ridiculous shots attempts are consistent but his efficiency and decision making are not.

Dude was playing just fine and at elite level before he went down with the injury. The numbers support this completely.
It’s ok to be down on this team and have criticisms.
But some of you guys are completely making up narratives due to how he’s looked since coming back a few games ago and applying it to the entire season. That’s just disingenuous.
He was literally he only reason why they were winning so many of their close games and is pretty much the most clutch player in the league prior to the injury.
Stop with the recency bias and nonsense.

A good coach would say we need to play better and I need to coach better. It starts with me. He has never once called into question his coaching or schemes. Which means he's stubborn and no adaptable that is an issue!

I honestly feel like last year's team greatly overachieved and because of it, we got duped into thinking that they were actually talented/good. Because regardless of how you feel about this year's team compared to last year's team, almost every key player from last year's team has done worse this year.
Brunson is worse, OG is worse, bench players like McBride, Achiuwa are preforming worse. Players that are out of the team are performing worse like Randle, Donte. The only two that are playing better/keeping pace are Hart and iHart.
Reminds me of that Sacramento team a few years ago where everyone thought that they were going to be the new wave, only to regress after that one year.
i've had this concern for awhile too. specifically with brunson - he is very good but at the end of the day is an undersized scoring guard with very limited playmaking ability.
we all crowned him this top 10 MVP caliber player when in reality he might just be a very good player in the top 20-30. so many games it feels like the other team has the better player, even tonight with garland cooking us. last night it was cade. other game it's kyrie etc. before last season nobody had brunson ranked that high. his run was amazing and he is legit a great player but is way too flawed to be considered as good as we make him out to be.

Brunson is worse?OG is worse? What? lol
yes brunson is worse. brunson last year was like a super hero. this year he is very good and has been clutch but also way too many dud performances like tonight. OG's season has been very up and down. he started hot and then had a long stretch where he barely scored. then recently he had a great stretch until last few games he can't shoot or make layups again. overall i would say it's better because he's largely been healthy and has had 2 different stretches where he played like an all star. last year I would say his defense felt more impactful.

The funniest thing is that they played their rookie with the ponytail, Porter and Javonte Green, three guys that don't play unless someone is hurt or there's a blowout, and this dumbass Thibs still went with his normal rotation and lost.

How can a coach hold his players accountable when he doesn’t do the same.
Every post game presser is the same non-sense with this team.

Lol Thibs with his typical we gotta fix this and fix that BS post game. In order to fix things you actually gotta do something different dumbas$. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different outcomes is the definition of a psychopath. This old man had not only lost this team but he's lost all of his knowledge of basketball. He's good for absolutely nothing now, can't even count on his defense which has always been his backbone. We gonna get our a$ses handed to us first round, doesn't matter who it is.

I am still gonna watch every playoff game.
But damn, this year’s squad just gives you absolutely no hope at all. I have seen a total of six 50 plus win Knick teams in my life time, and this is by far the worst of
the bunch.

Not just amnesia, they’re just completely making **** up,
and creating narratives to support their recency bias.
It’s just so disingenuous.
Saying that Brunson looks slower this year, not blowing by guys as easily and not passing the eye test is just such nonsense when he was playing like an all nba 2nd team player prior to the injury.
Now that he’s playing poorly since coming back, people are using the last few games as a sample size to create a narrative that he hasn’t been as good as last year and that he’s lost a step. Like dude has definitely been rusty since coming back a few games ago. His last game before the injury, he was cooking the Lakers.
It’s this type of nonsense that needs to be called out.
