Derrick is quietly one of the best basketball players in the league

Josh Richardson is probably living in a van down by the river

It's possible this Todd Whitehead is biased. Just look at that name.

White got a 2nd place vote for DPOY. He's the only Celtic that made any of the ballots. Looks like our guys are outside looking in for the All-Defensive Teams this year.

It isn’t your imagination. Derrick White has been historically great in the clutch this season
White shot 56 percent from 3-point range in such situations.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

Derrick's on/off are cratering this playoffs. Every season White has compiled >100 playoff minutes, his teams have played better with him off the floor. Which is somewhat confounding, but never the less these are Derrick's on/off number each year:

2019: -0.1 points per 100 poss
2022: -3.7
2023: -7.1
2024: -8.8

And this year the team (tho 4-2 overall record) is way, way better when White is not on the floor

2025: -28.1 points per 100 poss

It's like dang, man

In the two Knicks game, D White is 8/27 (29.6%) ...

Derrick White has taken 27 (!!!!!!) 3PTA in two games. Like, what are we doing here?????

edit: In the 4 playoff games we've won, White took a combined 31 3PTA in all four games. Combined. 27 in the two Knicks losses. This is not the way.

Ah, jeez. the Globe's Chris Gasper, known for defending Brown over Tatum, has a piece pitching DWhite for the trade chipper:
