It’s not all personality

But Thibs has a loser vibe, Mitch is just not a basketball player, 0g is meh, he’s not all that good at anything

I honestly believe Brunson is the only top player

The rest are kind of sad … Bridges I don’t mind, nervous smile aside. At least he wanted to be here, nobody ever thought he was awesome

Hart is admirable and so is Skat. But they’re both just not all that good. They care though

What is this team's identity? What have they spent this season building towards? What is the team that they are trying to be? I don't see it.

Knicks Pistons is pretty much solid now and the series really can go either way which is sad cuz it's the Fn Pistons. The fact that we are even putting the Knicks and Pistons in the same category is the saddest part of it all cuz half the fanbase doesn't have any faith in this coach or team to make it out of the first round.

This team needs more toughness. On paper they’re more talented than previous teams, but man this team
has no identity.

They’re no longer a tough and gritty team, and they aren’t a finesse/offensive powerhouse.

They don’t even play like a modern nba team.

Thibs has no clue to make the best use of his personnel.

this year i think a big adjustment teams copied from the playoffs was putting a bigger wing on him. he can still "blow by" guys but from there it's usually reckless layup attempts (trying to draw a foul) or he keeps his dribble and aborts any attack or looks to kick it out etc.

last season he felt more in control. maybe the league still didn't have the full scouting report on him, maybe he was healthier. i don't know. but even pre-injury this season i felt like he hasn't looked the same or been as good.

Dude was playing just fine and at elite level before he went down with the injury. The numbers support this completely.

It’s ok to be down on this team and have criticisms.
But some of you guys are completely making up narratives due to how he’s looked since coming back a few games ago and applying it to the entire season. That’s just disingenuous.

He was literally he only reason why they were winning so many of their close games and is pretty much the most clutch player in the league prior to the injury.

Stop with the recency bias and nonsense.

He was an all star starter and was killing it. 1 month gone and folks have amnesia or something
the numbers are what they are - but i stand by what i said. he used to get in the paint at will and stop on a dime, pump fake, draw a foul or pivot and make the floater. it was unstoppable. and that was with a worse spacing supporting cast.

i nowhere said he wasn't good this year. you can go back to my posts after many of his mediocre performances earlier in the year and i was pointing it out. my opinion is not at all related to him missing time with an injury or how he's looked since he came back.

comparing the numbers he is averaging 2.7 less points. 3pt% is down considerably compared to past 2 seasons. FT percentage is down. FG% is up slightly but still below his 1st season as a knick and his career average. his FTr is up a lot compared to last season which is surprising which helps his TS% being up a bit. TOV% is up considerably despite his usage being down. looking closer at his advanced stats (hadn't even done this yet) - almost all of them are down considerably. WS/48, OBPM, DBPM, BPM, VORP - all down significantly.

last year he was 5th in MVP. he will not be anywhere close this year (maybe 9/10 if lucky).

in conclusion, after looking at the advanced numbers, i actually think i'm justified in my "eye test" observation.
made this comparison real quick

Hopefully some of it is rust.

There is a fair chance that his moves are very well known around the league now and defenders are adjusting accordingly.
And the defenders are taller so they can challenge.

Brunson scoring. This was my problem from the beginning. There was only one style of play and the players just plug in and nothing changes.

Yeah he’s been defended by length for a long time now. The Dyson Daniels types, etc.

I love the guy but for me he needs to take the first 10 - 15 minutes of each game to set the table for others, let the scoring opportunities come to him organically. Make his defenders guess a bit more.

The elbow step back 3 looks good but is it the shot with 46 minutes left in the game?

I honestly get the vibe that Mikal has just been going through the motions the last few weeks and has kind of quit on playing hard for Thibs. Hopefully he'll play harder and better during the playoffs.

In fairness to Thibs and I agree he’s kind of out of ideas

But Skat was much better early on

Bridges got a little better as the season went but not tons

0g was bad mostly all year, turned it on a lot late but he can’t sustain it

Mitch is awful as a player he is admirable but he just is not good at all

Brunson is not limited by much but he is a little lacking in some size and speed and I agree that defenses have gamed him some

Fibs is a bad counterpuncher, a zero there, and the team can’t defend at all

Early in the season — Indy at home. The team looked really good

Aggressive and getting steals on D

Where did that’s go? Probably scouting

Good coaching is attention to detail and counterpunching — Fibs can’t do it. He is prepared and cares but it’s ovs folks

This is not a Thibs team. So he’ll be sent packing after Boston dispatches us in 5 after we dispatch Detroit in 5.

Seems inevitable.

Memo to Thibs this post season:
First place is a Cadillac Eldorado
Second place is a brand new set of steak knives
Third place is you're fired.

I was at this game tonight
Sat two rows behind the Knicks bench
I can assure this
Thibs did not draw up a single play in the last two minutes or timeouts
He just verbally told them plays and Mikal and OG nodded

The team is going nowhere
Thibs just constantly looks toward Jalen
