despite it being a "meaningless" game, it left a sour taste in my mouth. going into the playoffs absolutely cold and still not having beat an elite team.
4th quarter defense was so abysmal, even without KAT. Couldn't stop Garland at all and when Strus got hot, we couldn't deny him an open three even if our lives depended on it. rest all players against Brooklyn and re-group in this week off.

The fact that Thibs and his players are actually saying that they need to fix things right before the playoffs are set to begin shows you how much trouble they are in.

They are nowhere close to being mentally prepared for the post season. The coach knows it, and the players know it.

Not one team in the east is afraid of playing this team. It’s embarrassing to see the lack of respect they are given throughout the league. No one fears them.

I never thought a Thibs coached team would lack so much toughness. He may have been a limited coach, but his teams always played hard in the past. This team just doesn’t have it.

Exactly, personally I think the issue was they traded for KAT. I get the fact they didn’t want to pay Randle, but Randle and DDV fix this team. They could have scrapped together some centers like they did when they had Nerlins Noel on the roster and this team would have had a punchers chance.

Which once again isn’t even a full indictment of KAT, because the talent is there. The issue is Thibs wins by having a roster of scrappy players beat up the other team. It’s why he usually is limited in the playoffs because eventually they run into a team that fights back.

This current team is a high BBIQ, and talented team. He could be having them run some interesting stuff to get guys shot, or get guys open. Instead he is running basic plays and he knows these guys are not built to beat guys up they are skilled players.

Imagine calling Julius Randle a scrappy player wtf man… without Towns and Bridges we’d be looking at the play-in.

Just being there tonight
Just watching this game and being so close to the bench
The team is checked out. There’s no cohesion. Thibs randomly barks out a play. No one listens. It’s comical because the players even know, it’s over

Sat two rows behind the Knicks bench
I can assure this
Thibs did not draw up a single play in the last two minutes or timeouts
He just verbally told them plays and Mikal and OG nodded

The team is going nowhere
Thibs just constantly looks toward Jalen

what plays do thibs tell the wingstop?

I swear to god
I’m not kidding he verbally said a play
But there was only one option
Mikal and OG just nodded
There is absolutely nothing on the whiteboard
No marker no drawn up play
No second or third option
He did this for the last three plays of the game

There was not a single play drawn up on the white board
The assistant coaches Mo cheeks, and othella said nothing the entire game
Thibs looks so so old out there

There was a moment in the 8 minute mark of the fourth quarter where Jalen is riding the bicycle right next to me to stay warm; Thibs and Rick Brunson turn and signal (almost as if they forgot Jalen wasn’t in the game) and Jalen has to sprint from the bike to the scorer’s table

The coaching is non existent
Meanwhile Johnnie Bryant is bouncing up and down the sidelines coaching and calling out plays live
There is no one out there helping Thibs, and even he doesn’t do anything at al.

On the plays that we challenged, Thibs turns to our guys to check the video , instead they aren’t ready and Thibs is yelling as to why they’re not ready

I'm not surprised.

And you know this how ? This team has the same amount of wins as last year’s team decimated with injuries. We’ve been relatively healthy this year compared to last year’s team. I get that you’re happy because they traded for your favorite players but this team is not better than last year’s team. This team is soft and gets bullied around. Atleast Randle and Divo had backbones.

The Pistons are looking at the Knicks like they’re food. Cleveland and Boston know they would beat us no matter what. It’s disheartening to see how they’ve taken a significant step backwards.

I never thought a Thibs coached team would lack so much toughness. He may have been a limited coach, but his teams always played hard in the past. This team just doesn’t have it. I know we lost Divo, iHart and Randle, but damn. This team just has absolutely no identity.
This is the team. Kinda chill. Too cool by half.

lol answering with a question. The ultimate form of deflection. Love or Hate him, Nobody going to try to bully Randle. Let’s see Royce O’Neal and Draymond try to bully Randle. Backbone means standing up for yourself which is something this team clearly lacks.

This isn't a team that is remotely ready for playoff competition. I said the same thing last game and here we are again. Detroit has had our number all season long, Cade is averaging 31 and 8 on 66% TS. The threat of a first round exit is very real.

We've been sounding the alarm about Tom for months, people ridiculed us, and now things look like they're going off the rails. Great.

Tom has lost this group. OG and Mikal suddenly becoming ineffective once Brunson returned says everything about how he has no clue how to manage the talent on this roster or put guys in a position to succeed.

This team needs new direction and vision for how to get the best out of this roster. This group is too talented to play this garbage brand of basketball from the early 00s
